I'm looking into migrating a few old bbcodes to the media bbcode, which covers several of my cases.
As I want to avoid that posts from the past no longer parse correctly, I'd like to know if there is some procedure on what to do to replace these bbcodes in posts.
Basically, I need to replace [xxxx]123[/xxxx] to [media]123[/media]
Yes, it's just the name of an old bbcode that I want replaced.
Meanwhile I found also that I need to resubmit these posts, so I'm looking into a procedure that replaces this in the posts, and programatically resubmits each affected post.
I was hoping somebody had already done something similar.
As far as I know if you replace [xxxx]123[/xxxx] with [media]123[/media] then you would have to go into every post and change the [xxxx]123[/xxxx] to [media]123[/media] or all of those posts will be broken.
Of course you could leave the [xxxx]123[/xxxx] bbcode in place and leave the Display on posting page box blank. And create your [media]123[/media] bbcode and check the Display on posting page box for that one to show. Then all new [media] bbcodes will be used in the future and the old posts will still be good.
