Re: Custom BBCodes

Post by ticky »

Hi there...

I added a new theme to my forum but now the youtube embed tag isn't working

This is the coding i use:
BBCODE USAGE

Code: Select all

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v={TEXT}[/youtube]
HTML REPLACEMENT

Code: Select all

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/{TEXT}"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{TEXT}" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
All it does is show the URL as a link to the YouTube page. I've tried a number of different variants of this but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks, but it's still not showing up.

Is it just new posts that it isn't working for, videos posted before the theme change display as normal.

Hi,

I run my forum using a forum host but they allow you to make numerous chages. I have entered the BBcode for fonts and this is what I have

BBCODE USAGE

Code: Select all

[font={SIMPLETEXT}]{TEXT}[/font]
HTML REPLACEMENT

Code: Select all

span style="font-family: {SIMPLETEXT1};">{TEXT}</span>
But it shows like this
span style="font-family: {SIMPLETEXT1};">Trying to post Comic Sans
, here is the message it is posted in http://drewschofield.myfreeforum.org/vi ... 276&t=4041

I have asked on my support forum and they said they can not advise so I have come onto here.

Just wondered what I was doing wrong?

Two problems.

Your forget the "<" at the beginning of your span.

You are uisng {SIMPLETEXT} in one place and {SIMPLETEXT1} in the other. They have to be the same.

Why would you want to post a message with a dropdown select-box in it?

The url works in the browser but not in the player unless i remove the gaps:--> jthedemo

[Podcast]{URL}[/Podcast]
HTML:

Is there a solution for this problem ?

my best guess is that the problem lies with the spaces needing to be url encoded. try using "%20" for each gap/space, and see if that works.

one'd think that the {URL} token should take care of this encoding, but it appears not to, while the [url] bbcode does, so this may be a bug with the token. someone in support or dev should know for sure.

Code: Select all

i ran a quick test bbcode using
bbcode: [test]{URL}[/test]
html: <a href="{URL">{URL}</a>

using the url: http://www.this is a test.com
previewing the post shows: [test]http://www.this is a test.com[/test]
no encoding.

using the url bbcode, it shows up as a clickable link: http://www.this%20is%20a%20test.com/
please do not PM me to ask for help. thanks.

im using WP-UNITED FOR PHPBB3..

My forum members can log into wordpress through wp-united and crosspost their podcast to my forum, if a member has a gap/space between their name the player won't showup. I was hoping someone could edit the bbcode the accept urls with a space.

This is the reason why i cant use your method of add "%20" between the spaces

Hi @ all,

Thanks in Advance,

You can try this:

BBCode

Code: Select all

[viddyou]http://www.viddyou.com/viddstream?videoid={text}[/viddyou]
HTML Replacement

Code: Select all

<object width="640" height="480"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.viddyou.com/get/v2_full/{text}.swf" /><embed src="http://www.viddyou.com/get/v2_full/{text}.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="480"></embed></object>
Help Line

Code: Select all

[viddyou]Insert Video URL here[/viddyou]
Hope that works. If not, let me know. ;)
