Re: Custom BBCodes

Post by Lumpy Burgertushie »

the way steve showed works perfectly when you have a good playlist number.

the one used in the previous example:
PLD8B7134498A2BCC

is not a valid playlist.

when I create the bbcode the way steve showed and put the playlist number for the one you showed. it works perfectly.

also, there is no need to create a replacement value for the www or anything else that goes before the youtube.com. not sure why you thought that was needed.

So is a video series the same thing as a playlist?

Also, could someone show me how to include a GodTube video? Their embed code is a bit different. :!:

I have no idea, I was only using what was posted here. I can't even find anywhere on youtube to get that link. I have a playlist but could not find that type of link for sharing it at all.

to your second question about godtube;

it works the same no matter where the video comes from.

you take the number/code for the actual video and replace it with {SIMPLETEXT} in the html replacement
then all you have to do is enter that code/number in the new bbcode and it will usually work.

you can look through all the pages of this topic and they all work the same basic way. it may take more than one replacement and some are more complicated than others, but if you look through the ones found here, you should be able to figure out any video site's embed system and create a bbcode for it.

If you have a question about code you got from another site, you will have to seek support at that site.

I was recently asked to embed the flickr slideshow into BBCode ... since I didn't find any ready code I made this here, based on the foto sets of flickr. It can easily adapter to serve any other sorting:
BBCode Usage:

Code: Select all

[slideshow]http://www.flickr.com/photos/{IDENTIFIER1}/sets/{IDENTIFIER2}/show/[/slideshow]
HTML Replacement:

Code: Select all

<object width="600" height="600">
<param name="flashvars" value="offsite=true&lang=en-us&page_show_url=/photos/{IDENTIFIER1}/sets/{IDENTIFIER2}/show/&page_show_back_url=/photos/{IDENTIFIER1}/sets/{IDENTIFIER2}/&set_id={IDENTIFIER2}&jump_to="></param>
<param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=109615"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/slideshow/show.swf?v=109615" allowFullScreen="true" flashvars="offsite=true&lang=en-us&page_show_url=/photos/{IDENTIFIER1}/sets/{IDENTIFIER2}/show/&page_show_back_url=/photos/{IDENTIFIER1}/sets/{IDENTIFIER2}/&set_id={IDENTIFIER2}&jump_to=" width="600" height="600">
</embed>
</object>
Tooltip

Code: Select all

Flickr Slidewhow:  [Flickr] URL [/Flickr]
You just post a complete set URL within those Tags ... enjoy

cheers

I want to make URL click to insert box .Now my forum have't play box .
I want that pop up box for HTML links / Image Links so bad. But I think that is only a vBulletin feature :(

The Advanced BBCode3 is no where close to that

you don't need that. you already have a url bbcode button and an image bbcode button. you simply click that button, then paste/type your url in between the bbcode brackets.

that is much simpler than having a pop up box like that.

phpBB doesn't support HTML - you're mixing it up with URLs. If you want to have a popup when clicking one of the BBCode buttons have a read on links from highlighted text.

How would I make this work in a post?

Code: Select all

<embed width="700" height="700" bgcolor="" wmode="transparent" flashvars="xmlDataPath=http://www.beatstreetmusic.com/images/bc_custom_gallery/gallery.xml" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.beatstreetmusic.com/product_images/viewer.swf"></embed>

I don't see anything that needs replacing, so try the following:

BBCode Usage
[beatstreet][/beatstreet]

and make the HTML Replacement the code that you listed above.

I have not tried this, though.

Steve

P.S. What about that code makes the CODE box so big? If I remove the flashvars quoted text, it loses the extra whitespace, but those are obviously important.
