Hi,

I am new to creating forums and everything, hope this helps me. I don't have enable Html option on my forum but have flash, url and img etc etc everything but Why i cannot see videos when I copy and paste the link from the youtube?
the link comes up as a text even if put below link for example

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V5Ej_WQhKSI&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V5Ej_WQhKSI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

it shows as a text not video, i have used the code , i have used [flash]htmlll[/flash]

but both didnt work at all.

You're supposed to put just the url to the YouTube video in between the tags nothing else.
Also you have to have the BBCode for the YouTube tags added in the BBCode section in your administration panel.
and as for the embed youtube video turning out as text it's because you don't have html enabled in your forum: just look for the MOD to "Enable HTML"

ok, i have one small issue. i want to align the text in this bbcode vertically (center). ive tried numerous verticla-align: cetner; combinations with no luck. can someone point me in the right direction? here is the original code...

Code: Select all

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Important Info:</span><br /><div style="background: #FFFFFF;  border-color: #ed0707; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; padding: 5px; overflow: auto;"><img src="./styles/prosilver/imageset/announce_unread.gif"/> {TEXT}</div>
here is the output...

Try this....

Code: Select all

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Important Info:</span><br /><div style="background: #FFFFFF;  border-color: #ed0707; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; padding: 5px; overflow: auto;"><img src="./styles/prosilver/imageset/announce_unread.gif"/><div align="center">{TEXT}</div></div>
Untested, so let me know if it works.

You could use a table instead of a div. Try something more like this:

Code: Select all

<table><caption style="font-weight: bold;">Important Info:</caption>
<col width="150px"><col width="*">
<tr style="background: #FFFFFF;  border-color: #ed0707; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; padding: 5px; overflow: auto;" valign="center">
<td style="border-right: none;"><img src="./styles/prosilver/imageset/announce_unread.gif"/></td>
<td style="border-left: none;">{TEXT}</td>
</tr></table>
Note: Replace 150px with the actual width of announce_unread.gif. (It may need to be a little more than the width of the image.)

Again, it's untested.

<col width="30px"><col width="*">

ok, finally got it (a modified version of your code). this is also XHTML compliant.

Code: Select all

<span style="font-weight: bold; align: left">Important Info:</span>
<div style="background: #FFFFFF;  border-color: #ed0707; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; padding: 5px; overflow: auto;">
<table>
<tr>
<td style="vertical-align: center;"><img src="./styles/prosilver/imageset/announce_unread.gif" alt=""/></td>
<td style="vertical-align: center;">{TEXT}</td>
</tr></table></div>

Unlike youtube, abc.net.au's videos do not display a unique identifier but play while the feed remains masked. Maybe this makes it impossible to embed in a forum a particular video from the site. :?
Without being able to identify the base URL of the video there's no possibility of embedding same into a forum post.

A simple (but I think useful) addition to the list. Strikethrough (so, put a line through your text as if it's crossed out). It can be useful both for corrections where you want to show what it used to say, as well as for jokes, where you strike out for example a less politically correct, but more accurate term and have it followed by the PC term ;))

BBcode usage:

Code: Select all

[s]{TEXT}[/s]
HTML replacement:

Code: Select all

<span style="text-decoration: line-through">{TEXT}</span>
I chose the s-code because a quick Google showed that's already something of a standard.

there's a mod that creates a custom BBCode for videos in the way you were referring just search video and you'll find it, then ask if he can add abc videos to his allowed sites list and create a stream for it too.

hope that made sense i just woke up after 15 hours of sleep so....yeah.
