<link rel="icon" href="" />
that the extension Favicon Notifications needs added to styles that is missing so it's actually a useful extension in my opinion for those that do not want to edit filesI could not get any animated favicon to show up in the address bar.david63 wrote:Uploading an animated favicon file will work.

I was wrong. My link to phpBB Modders got mixed up. I had the wrong address. I fixed it in my sig.Sniper_E wrote:I'll remove that Lumpy. New founder working on site and it's not setup correctly yet.
This was probably answered by the first post after you posted, but besides those reasons I find it sometimes unreliable to just plop the file in the site root and assume that viewing from the forum directory will pick it up. That might be because the browser is caching the previous icon it had found.david63 wrote:Why do you need an extension for this when just uploading an animated favicon file will work anyway?
I used to work for a company that had bought error monitoring software for all sites they host. One of the top errors in the IIS logs was always the favicon.ico being missing. In order to "resolve" the error a favicon.ico file was added to every single site root, which made some clients a bit unhappy since it was the company logo, not theirs. In order to keep the same code base for everyone a client specific image was created for those that requested it and it was referenced using the <link> tag to an image processor that would determine which image was the right one.Sniper_E wrote:It would load the favicon.ico and then load the favicon.gif if the browser was compatible. Like most.
Else it would keep the favicon.ico as the favicon.
Then this ext would not be needed for an animated favicon if that was setup...
And the Favicon Notifications ext wouldn't need this either.
I set this ext to [RC] for the reason it does what it does and works well just the way it stands.DavidIQ wrote:P.S. you're missing the proper topic prefix. Please fix.
Sorry DavidIQ, you ended up being correct. But I forgot to change the prefix after denial. Done!DavidIQ wrote:P.S. you're missing the proper topic prefix. Please fix.
