Upload Extensions and Upload Extensions Updater use almost the same method for remote uploads.
Do you have allow_url_fopen enabled in your PHP settings?

Yes. Taken from php.ini:

allow_url_fopen On

I can upload an extension after downloading and then uploading via browse > upload buttons. It's the automated process which does not work.

Did you download extensions from https resource, e.g. phpbb.com?
If yes, do you have OpenSSL extension enabled in your PHP settings?

Do you have this line in phpinfo?
OpenSSL support enabled

Does the error occur if you try to upload a file from non-https resource?

No for both questions?

If so, you should search for enabling OpenSSL extension in your PHP settings.

Openssl enabled (we have just updated php to a newer version and missed openssl) and all works very nicely. Impressed with the Ajax menus and support from the forum.

Keep it up.

Hello, guys!
I'm really glad to announce the new release!
Thank you for using Upload Extensions and contributing your ideas!

Extension's webpage: http://boardtools.github.io/upload/

Extension's Version: 3.1.2-RC1 (download from GitHub)

Starting from today, old list of suggested extensions will be left as is and may become outdated very soon.

Main improvements and new features:
  • List of suggested extensions now comes directly from phpbb.com!
  • Extension's description and requirements are now shown for each extension in the list of suggested extensions - click on the extension's row to see them (JavaScript only feature).
  • Full downloadable list of uploaded extensions on your board with ability to select name types and group extensions.
  • Any errors (including general errors) are shown in the special modal box - so they will not corrupt the page of Upload Extensions. (I had the idea to restore the board in case of enabling broken extension in future updates.)
  • Work with browser's history - any page of Upload Extensions can now be updated by pressing F5, browser's Back button is now functioning correctly.
  • Upload Extensions now checks whether allow_url_fopen setting and openssl extension are enabled in your php.ini.
  • Other fixes and improvements.
Features asked by the community:
  • Current file is now highlighted in file tree (thanks to leschek for his request).
  • Extension's page is now refreshed automatically when you enable/disable/delete data of an extension that has acp and/or adm directories (thanks to leschek for his request).
  • Status icons were added in addition to green/red status colors (thanks to John connor for his request).
Compare the features of the new version of the extension to available features of phpBB core.
The full list of features can be found on extension's webpage.

See the first post in this topic for screenshots.

You can use Upload Extensions Updater to install the new update - see instructions in the first post of this topic.

Important note:
Upload Extensions 3.1.2 comes only with British English language package.
Information about translations and other language packages can be found here.

The extension was being updated in order to being validated.
I've finished the new version only today.
I think that I can submit it to the CDB again. ;)

Is the update link correct for you?
It should look like /adm/index.php?i=-boardtools-updater-acp-updater_module&sid=f21b19bbc2824cb0dbe20a2dc9c29c8b&mode=main&action=upload&remote_upload=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2FBoardTools%2Fupload%2Farchive%2Fdevelop.zip.

I tested the Updater and it worked OK for me.

I get the same error 403 forbidden

my update link shows https://github.com/BoardTools/upload/ar ... evelop.zip

I did use the ftp method and updated that way without a problem.

Do you try to update directly from the Updater or from a link in details page of Upload Extensions?
I meant the link in your browser where 403 error is displayed.
