It might be a bit early but will there be support at this time for modifying the links? I know I asked it before and we discussed it, you mentioned that would need some changes in the htaccess file.

Just as a reminder:
I would prefer this www.mydomain.com/custompagename instead of www.mydomain.com/pages/custompagename it looks better for me because I use phpBB as a website as well ;)

I would like to now what changes it would require to make that happen, so I can try and test that out as well. You said that it might conflict with other extensions and I want to take that to a test. I just don't have the knowledge to setup some rewrite code.

Thanks in advance ;)
Doing www.mydomain.com/custompagename is not possible. Perhaps one day, after significant changes to phpBB, it may be possible. But not currently. Sorry.

You could add .htaccess rules to accomplish it though, right?

You could maybe write individual redirects for each page after you create it, where you know everything. In other words, not using regex redirects...regex redirects can break every other extension's urls, possibly also phpBB's urls.

However, we will not support anybody trying to "hack" it to work or htaccess redirects. When/if it becomes possible to do these kinds of URLs safely and correctly, then we will allow them and support them.

Thanks for the response, well I have the time to wait for a while ;) I won't update my own website very soon, have to wait till a few other modifications are released as a extension.

What if the Pages extension makes use of a meaningless URL parameter in order to differentiate itself from the other extensions?

For example: app.php?param=lol

And then rewrite URLs that have the above string. Is that possible?

It's not possible for many reasons including some like "it will be very hacky and difficult to maintain" and "it could cause a lot of conflicts and mess up the board or the others extensions".

It should be possible in 3.2.0.
