The first Beta release for Pages is available for testing. See the first post for download and install information.

Once again, Pages is still in development, so the Beta version should only be installed on offline test boards, and not on live boards. No support will be provided until an official release is made. Until then we encourage you to try it out and post any feedback or issues here or in our Github issue tracker.

Isn't it confusing, if you use "phpbb" as first folder in "ext" and create another "phpbb" folder? Wouldn't be phpbbcom or something better?

If you already have a folder called phpbb then you would not be able to create another one anyway.

The instructions say "if it does not exist" then create the phpbb folder.

In the ext folder you can, and probably will, have a number of folders with the name of the author (technical name - vendor) which in this case is phpbb. Within each of these folders you will have other folders each of which will hold the files for an extension.

p.s. I think you forgot to change the tag [DEV] to [BETA]

What i meant is: we have a folder like:
- phpBB/phpbb
and now this ext needs a phpBB/ext/phpbb. So two directories are called the same, this could lead to problems in handling by "normal" users.

So a name like: phpBB/ext/phpbbcom or something would avoid this double.

The phpBB folder is the forum root folder and not everyone will have that folder.

Perhaps the instructions should say [forum_root]/ext/phpbb

Remember we are still at RC stage with phpbb3.1 and DEV/BETA/RC with extensions - packaging of extensions has not been published yet and once that is done things will become clearer, and consistent.

No matter how it is phrased someone will be confused

You are still not getting my point.

The naming of "phpbb" for the "main-folder" of official extensions creates two directory which are named "phpbb". This could lead to problems, which the support team has to solve, when phpBB 3.1 is released.

Therefore my suggestion: change this main-folder of the extension to something like phpbbcom, officialphpbb or something similar.

So we have ONLY one folder named "phpbb" within the phpBB-files.

I can see what you are saying but any extension developer can use whatever they want as their "vendor" so the issue of conflicting folder names as you suggest will always be a potential issue.

Personally I cannot see an issue with referring to phpbb or ext/phpbb any more than config or ext/vendor/config

phpbb is the vendor name used by the phpBB project and we are not looking to change it at this time.

If we changed root/ext/phpbb/ to root/ext/phpbbcom/ then by convention we should also change root/phpbb/ to root/phpbbcom/ as both are directories called phpbb due to the fact that's our vendor name and having multiple vendor names would pollute the situation.

We have many instances of folders with the same name in different locations (root/phpbb/template and root/styles/prosilver/template or root/phpbb/cache and root/cache) and it will be simple to redirect users to the correct location. The support team always refer to files from root, root being where config.php is located.

Absolutely love this extension! Great addition.

I do hope that in the future it will be possible to use pages in different languages! Keep up the great work.

Sweet! This looks really amazing, I'm glad that someone created this since it's a very useful feature for forum owners to have to show custom pages of things (like about us, etc.).

I'm really happy that you have it show in the whois, along with being able to say where you want the page location at (aka like you said /pages/page) instead of it being just like pages.php?page=ID or some other odd format.
