I had that too once with an unreleased extension, worked fine without problems for a long time, until it didn't, crashed my site and spent a day reverting things back to as how they were. :|

Any reason you think this extension caused that? Errors/etc?

Re: [DEV] Thanks for posts

Post by AngeloM »

Hello all,
I tried to read all the thread but probably I missed that I'm looking for, so here's my question: I'm setting up a test system to try (again!) the migration from 3.0.12 and I actually use Thanks for Post, AutoMOD and Tapatalk extensions with Prosilver theme, what's the preferred way to upgrade the forum in order to maintain the Thanks for post data (not interested in AutoMOD and Tapatalk right now)?
I mean, should I first install 3.1.9 and the latest version of Thanks for post from scratch, besides config.php/files/images folders, and then launch the database update script?
Or a different procedure is requested/suggested?
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards

You can update usual way while keeping the Thanks for posts MOD darabase table at place.
Then if you install the extension, all the data should be preserved.

Curious - is there a way to allow all the users to say 'Thanks' in all forums, instead of setting up permission per Forum/group?
Thanks,

There should be the thumb-up icon in posts. If not, please check if permissions are set correctly viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2259046&p=14223716#p14223716

Hello, quick dummy question:
How do I change text :
"These users thanked the author XY for the post:
XY"

to something like
"These Users liked this post: XY, XY, XY..."

found some HTML and PHP files but those only works with variables, i'm certain i've missed it somewhere...

EDIT:
OK i've found 'THANK_TEXT_1' (These users thanked the author ') and 'THANK_TEXT_2' (' for the post: ') but no idea where does this mod putting together those messages :(

Go to:

Code: Select all

/ext/gfksx/ThanksForPosts/language/en/
OPEN:

Code: Select all

thanks_mod.php
Just make sure you know what you're doing. If you do things wrong, your whole forum will go blank (white) until you fix the mistakes.

Hello, this is a fantastic MOD :)
When I have some time, I will work to the conversion in Italian translation language, cross my heart :D
I wanted to ask you, is possible to integrate this mod with the bbcode [hidden] "abbc3 editor MOD" similar to Thank Post Mod (hide MOD compatible ) 0.2.0?
Thanks in advanced
Best regards

Salvo

There're no MODs for phpBB 3.1+, do you mean ABBC 3.1 extension viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2214031?
In what way it could be integrated?

I think that integration is possible with the bbcode [hidden] and a small change to stylesheet.css file! But working on extensions could be much simpler that working in the previous version of phpbb that uses the MODs... I think! I can try :)
