[CDB] Posts merging

Post by rxu »

Extension Name: Posts merging
Author: rxu

Extension Description:: Adds an option to merge current post with previous if the former one is by same author.
Extension Version:: 2.0.0 (unstable)

Requirements:
  • phpBB 3.1.0-RC3 or later
Development repository: https://github.com/rxu/posts_merging

Download URL: Download button named "Download ZIP" can be found at the development repository page.
Installation: Extension files should be extracted to /ext/rxu/PostsMerging/ folder. Then the extension should be enabled in ACP as usually.

Precaution: As the ext is still in development, major changes still can be applied which could require full extension purging and reinstallation, so use it on your own risk. DO NOT install it on production boards. For testing purposes only.

So does this automatically merge posts or is there a moderation tool added that allows two or more posts to be merged? I'd prefer the latter

Regret for moderators, this is for users :)
Posts will be merged automatically, unless post approval is needed. For this case the ext won't work, but thank you for the idea, I'll think about adding this option.

Just to clarify, would this at the admins setting, allow automated merging of posts? I want to make sure users have no means to bypass this functionality. Additionally, there is a few key forums I don't want this merging to take place. Will there be granularity built-in where it can be enabled/disabled across the various forums?

What is the purpose of merging posts within this extension? I try this on my site and merge users' posts! :)
No sign of a forum I owned.

Thank you,

I'm not sure what do you mean, but this ext does exactly what the description says :)

Within the ext ACP settings, you can set a comma separated list of forum ids to exclude those from posts merging functionality.

Again, it's exactly what its description says (please see the 1st post) ;)
