Cant you change the title in the lang-file?
yeah, good idea, in en/ random topics.php I tried to change it to falkor's topics of the day

Can't have apostrophes! ok so falkors topics of the day WAY BETTER than RANDOM TOPICS :mrgreen: great ext, WORKS FINE!! yeah, love that!!

Although that works most of the time the correct way is to use a backtick which is shown in most language files (it is not possible to post a backtick on the board)

There is a problem in the first column of the display and it can't be solved by a language file this time!

The first column shows a topic title and below it the wording "Last post by"

This should read "First post by" and that is not in the language file to change :x

Code: Select all

   <dd class="lastpost"><span><dfn>{L_LAST_POST} </dfn>{L_POST_BY_AUTHOR} {randomtopics.TOPIC_LAST_POST_AUTHOR_FULL}

two lots of L_POST is incorrect :x

Any solution to this?

Also, is it possible to make a reload-icon behind Random Topics to reload the list (AJAX?)?

that is a pretty minor issue

what is the situation with "AUTH"? are the displayed topics run through "AUTH" ?
PayBas wrote:Be careful. When looking at the code, I think there is no ACL going on at all.

So every topic will be shown to the user. Whether he has permission to view the topic or not. Depending on the sensitivity of the topic, this might be a security problem.
I think this is still the case? but if a topic outside of AUTH is selected .... a message blocking the display appears

so if you run a forum with 100% public posts, no private threads, then this is perfect for you

you can put it on your TEST board, it appears on the index page but bear in mind comments from Paybas above. The situation will be that should a user click on a topic they like the look of, the ext will NOT display a topic that they don’t have permission to see, HOWEVER you could argue that the topics they don’t have permission to see shouldn’t even be in the display, THAT is the one hiccup in this ext that needs sorting – if you’re happy that hiccup is still unresolved – probably ok to install it on your test board, I have installed it on my TEST BOARD ;)

Why are you advocating that extension that are at DEV stage should be installed on anything other than a test board?

It clearly states in this forum's description

try this at top uygar (compare to top of YOUR random topics_body)

Code: Select all

  <br />
	<div class="forumbg">
		<div class="inner">
		<ul class="topiclist">
			<li class="header">
				<dl class="row-item">
					<dt><div class="list-inner">{L_RANDOM_TOPICS}</div></dt>
					<dd class="posts">{L_REPLIES}</dd>

				</dl>
			</li>
		</ul>

Hi

I use Board3-Portal and it would be very useful on that ... or in the app.php.
