Re: [RC] mChat

Hello again, I have another extension installed to open external links in a new tab. https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/elonw/

Unfortunately because it only loads on a page refresh it doesn't add the onclick function to new links being posted in MChat unless the whole page is refreshed. Is there anything I can do to call this functionality when a new message with a link is posted?

This is an issue that needs to be fixed in the other extension. It was already brought up here a while ago, see this post and my reply to it.

Ah, thank you. Should have tried to search to see if it was discussed before I guess. :P

Well the author of that extension has told me you should be able to call the function of that extension in mchat. So I'll just try to figure out a solution on my own.

Edit: I got it figured out using a MutationObserver in the other extension to watch for changes to the children of mchat-messages.

I'm using this and the recent topics extension.
Is there any way to have this show after recent topics on index?

I think this ext uses the index_body_markforums_after.html in the event folder.
Does your recent topics ext use the same event template to insert it's template?
If so you can rename your recent topics ext event to index_body_markforums_before.html

I think when two extensions use the same event they are placed by name, alphabetical order.
But please don't quote me on that.

Thanks Sniper_E !
Actually both where index_body_markforums_before.html, So I changed mChat to index_body_markforums_after.html and now its just as I wanted. :)

Me and my users get constant "timeout" messages from mChat. This happens since RC6, found an issue in github regarding this. Should I set the timeout in mchat.js higher? It's actually at 10000 ms .

The Who is chatting time span uses mChat's session timeout if it's set to a value other than 0. If mChat's session timeout is 0, the board's session timeout is used for the Who Is chatting time span.

Replace your mchat.js with this one and see it if helps:
https://github.com/kasimi/mChat/blob/0e ... t/mchat.js

This new mchat.js doesn't display a popup for timeout errors, so pay attention if the error still occurs - you should still hear the error sound and see the error icon - or if the errors are actually fixed.

Unfortunately does not fix the issue. A popup still appears but withouth the "timeout" message. Just the title "Error". :(

I cant get mchat to show up on the theme canvas, when using index top. :(
If I use index bottom it does not fit the theme.

Are there any manual edits I still need to do?

I don't know why it's not showing up on the index, but there should be a canvas folder inside the mchat styles folder with a custom css file. In that you can make any modifications to the css that you want for canvas.
