Re: [ALPHA] Ajax Chat

Post by floxx » Thu Feb 26, 2015 3:42 pm

Hi,

I tried a fresh install of your ext, and it's working :D Now, I'm just waiting for your fix about responsive to use it on mobile ;)
And, I have one question : is it normal that the chat is a little bit slow? When i'm posting on it with several members, the posts appears after some seconds... Do you have and idea to make it faster?

Good job 8-)

Thank you !

many parts of this stuff we are learning as we go because we don't have anyone that really knows how all of it works helping with it

i've even had one person say, "thanks for your work, i will finish the rest." and they kept their coding fixes to themselves

On the fly, i dont know if the " will broke the code like ' without \' ...

Did you had a chance to see

thanks for the translation :D

i do know about the avatars not showing until refresh.

i also found that for some reason, 5 of the phpbb default smilies do the same as the avatars and i do not know why. these are the smilies having issues  :!: :?:

added an ACP options to disable the Who is Chatting box
several template changes have been made

still has mobile issues  but working on it :D

2 new language variables to translate for the ACP

Code: Select all

'WHOIS_CHATTING' => 'Enable Who is chatting box',
'WHOIS_CHATTING_EXPLAIN' => 'Setting this to "Disabled" will turn off the Who is Chatting box in chat regardless of users settings.',
Works great :D !

I've a strange issue on my board (phpbb 3.1.3). In the extensions tab i have this message in application configuration:

Code: Select all

ACP_AJAXSHOUTBOX_PUSH_DISABLED:

define("AJAXSHOUTBOX_SHOW_APP", true);
Evolution is a process too slow to save my soul

Haha if I could help you to code it I'll do, but i'm really bad in development... So, I help how I can, I'm telling you what is wrong or right ... :p
But you make a great job.

But (you'll be angry after read it... ) with the new files on the git, I uploaded it on my FTP to upgrade, and now, the ajax chat doesn't work, the submit button dosesn't work anymore, and the option to disable/enable "who is chatting" in the acp doesn't work too... So, I think there is a little problem, or it's not finish yet...

Cheer up !

Loooks great except when I try to toggle on "Enable Who is chatting box:" and click enable then Save the box stays disabled.

Edit - It looks like that option was not added to the DB when I upgraded.

I have the same problem, and after update, it's impossible to send a message in the shout, the "submit" button doesn't work :?

So, I've downgraded, and waiting for a fix :D

when upgrading, due to so many things possibly changing.
  1. disable extension
  2. delete data
  3. delete files from server
  4. upload new files
  5. enable extension
also, this should not be used on a live site as i see some that are doing this ;)

if you have modified any templates, you might want to wait as the templates could change daily and some functions depend on the changes made to them. they will also be getting a major update after Sniper_E gets done reworking the template layout and the responsive elements are put in place for mobile use. remember, this is in Alpha
