Thanks Anv@r.all, I will check into that preview script of yours.
A preview of the sign as you are writing it would be a nice addition.

The signs are set to display on a new line with the way it's written in the sign= bbCode.

To make it show up inline change the HTML Replacement codes in the bbCode to this:

Code: Select all

<div style="display: inline-block;">
	<div style="background: #A14500 url(./ext/sniper/smiliesigns/images/wood.gif);padding: 6px;margin: 0;border: 1px solid #000000;-webkit-border-radius: 22px;-o-border-radius: 22px;-moz-border-radius: 22px;border-radius: 22px;">
		<div class="signs" style="background: #CE9546 url(./ext/sniper/smiliesigns/images/wood.jpg);color: #211200;font-size: 1em;font-weight: bold;text-align: center;padding: 10px;margin: 0;border: 1px solid #522601;-webkit-border-radius: 20px;-o-border-radius: 20px;-moz-border-radius: 20px;border-radius: 20px;">{TEXT}</div>
	</div>
	<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="./ext/sniper/smiliesigns/images/wood_pole_{SIMPLETEXT}.gif" alt="" /></div>
</div>
I will update the next release with this code.
This way it will show up the way you are writing it in the post, inline or on a new line.

I will have to re-think this extension. I can not use style="" in the bbCode for it to validate.

That is my biggest problem to get around because without the style in the bbCode, the old posts will break if you disable the extension. I have to find a work around for this problem.

I wonder if it would be acceptable to add the css in the bbCode before the html replacement?

And in the bbCode html replacement use...

Code: Select all

<style type="text/css">
div.wrapper { display: inline-block; }
div.outter-sign { background: #A14500 url(./ext/sniper/smiliesigns/images/wood.gif);padding: 6px;margin: 0;border: 1px solid #000000;-webkit-border-radius: 22px;-o-border-radius: 22px;-moz-border-radius: 22px;border-radius: 22px; }
div.inner-sign { background: #CE9546 url(./ext/sniper/smiliesigns/images/wood.jpg);color: #211200;font-size: 1em;font-weight: bold;text-align: center;padding: 5px 10px;margin: 0;border: 1px solid #522601;-webkit-border-radius: 20px;-o-border-radius: 20px;-moz-border-radius: 20px;border-radius: 20px; }
div.inner-sign img { vertical-align: middle; }
div.smilie-pole { text-align: center;margin-top: -1px; }
</style>
<div class="wrapper">
   <div class="outter-sign">
      <div class="inner-sign">{TEXT}</div>
   </div>
   <div class="smilie-pole"><img src="./ext/sniper/smiliesigns/images/wood_pole_{SIMPLETEXT}.gif" alt="" /></div>
</div>
Putting a stylesheet in the extension for this is not going to work at all.
What will they let me get away with is the question. Or this extension can not be made.

I am not familiar with the code for this extension but why will

One very useful trick that I have found for manipulating css is with the jQuery.css function - with a bit of ingenuity there is a lot that you can do with this.

Well it's been a while back David, back before Jan 09, 2015 when you tested my first submitted revision.
david63 wrote:Each "smilie" is on a new line which may be intended but can produce some strange results. Disabling the extension stops the smilies from working and also removes the bbcode tags from the displayed text but leaves them in the post making the text look strange.
When the extension was disabled it would loose the stylesheet. All css would be lost.

That is why I put the style="" inside the bbCode to prevent this from happening.
And I added a <div style="display: inline-block;"> to post smilie signs inline.
Also using a .js would do the same thing once you disabled the extension.

Here I have removed the style="" from the bbCode and disabled the extension:
http://sniper-e.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&p=169#p136 <- Look at the previous smilie posts.
It doesn't break as bad as it did back when you tested it, but it's not a sign anymore.

I simply do not see any way of creating this extension from breaking after disabling it in the ACP without having the stye="" inside the bbCode. I can get rid of the tables, trim up the language file and rewrite the template to pass validation... but if phpBB want allow the style="" in my bbCode then I will not be able to present this as a valid extension that want break previous posts if you disable it.

Thanks for your response David. I'm still thinking this over.

This extension's bbCode will not show up in Advanced BBCode Box. It has it's own drop down selection.

If you want it to show in Advanced BBCode Box 3.1.1 look at this post:
viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2339951#p14229006

There is a link in that post that will show you how to make it work for that version.
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... 41#p455741

If you want to upgrade to Advanced BBCode Box 3.1.2 go to his GitHub and download the latest.

I've been working on a revision of this extension. Of course I still have some issues to work out.

As far as the preview goes, I have set an example of a smilie sign in the drop down.
The first animated smilie holding the pole shows a sign example above it. This may work.
And instead of the icon images in the dropdown I placed the actual animated smilies holding the pole.

Image

As an addition by selecting the sign at the top it will post a sign without a animated smilie under it.
Image
Now let me get to these other issues that need to be ironed out. Then I'll update GitHub for you.

Hi Sniper, hope things are going well for you. Is there any news on your struggles with the "style= issue?

If not, would it be possible to update the github with the changes you were talking about in the quote above?

Thanks,

Randy :)

I'm working on converting smilie signs over to style dependent and I have to re-create all of the images.
And I've been busy on other projects so I put this to the side. I've been working on them here and there.

The main part of the 1.0.6 update is the BBCode sign= HTML replacement.

Code: Select all

<div class="signs" style="text-align: center;display: inline-block;">
<div class="forabg custom-head" style="padding: 8px;margin: 0;-webkit-border-radius: 26px;-o-border-radius: 26px;-moz-border-radius: 26px;border-radius: 26px;">
<div class="panel custom-inner" style="text-align: left;padding: 6px 16px;margin: 0;-webkit-border-radius: 20px;-o-border-radius: 20px;-moz-border-radius: 20px;border-radius: 20px;">{TEXT}</div>
</div>
<div class="forabg custom-img" style="background-size: 6px 46px;background-repeat: no-repeat;background-color: transparent;background-position: center top;"><img src="./ext/sniper/smiliesigns/styles/all/theme/images/wood_pole_{SIMPLETEXT}.gif" alt="" style="margin-top: -1px;" /></div>
</div>
You can update your BBCCode while I'm getting the images created... 1.0.6 coming.
