The regex delimiter isn't escaped which is why it ends prematurely when a variant containing a slash is encountered. :) The delimiter needs to be passed as second argument so that it gets escaped as well, like this: $variant = preg_quote ($variant, '/');.

Thanks a lot again, Kasimi.
I'll correct this just now.

Any chance we could get an option to enable the glossary on a specific forum and not the rest?

This is doable.
I must think about it and see what I should code and how to do it.

No. The initial letters at the top fullfill the same function.

I believe for a long glossary page pagination or anchors-to-the-terms would be really helpful.

For example, I want to point to a glossary term starting with "B". Glossary terms starting with "B" are 1000+. Now getting the "anchored link" based on the initial letter lists all the 1000+ terms while the exact term is, say, term number 890. End users need to scroll or do a find on the page.
Thanks,

You are right, but only in theory.
From my point of view, if you have a glossary with 1000+ terms under each letter, I don't think that this should be the tool for the job.

Well, point taken.

Hey guys,

is there a way to have more than 500 characters on each definition?

This size limit is set in the table definition (512) and is checked in the module glossedit/php, line 273.

This extension is a glossary, not an encyclopaedia.

I uploaded on github a new version which implements the forum selection feature. When the extension is installed, the feature is enabled in all forums. In the ACP, you can select/deselect the forums as needed.

Can you extend the description to allow more than just 512 chars?

Thanks! :)

It is doable.

On the other hand, on a real board (mine), definitions are almost all under 128 characters.
If you really need that, I can tell you what changes you should make.

BTW, you also have the external link feature, which can be used to link to an extensive definition.

In such a case, you would have a short definition (< 512) with a link to a bigger one.
