I know you are repeating yourself, and I am very sorry for this, but can you help me a bit with this, I am getting nuts as I have everything with the defaults and users are not getting the digests as I have something wrong in the settings...

Do you see anything wrong that would not allow users to get the digest?

Perhaps if you expand Edit subscribers for one user with the problem. One of the settings is the issue.

I too had so much trouble getting this to work or even send anything to anyone that I scrapped it. It seems very overly complicated to set up and get working, properly, to me. I might take another look at though.

But the thing is I have every setting with the default.

I don't know what I did wrong... I hope the screenshot above will help debug why my users don't get email digests...

This is for a daily digest, so only posts from 24 hours before the digest time will go out. The time created is around 8PM at GMT+2, so roughly 8:01PM the day before the digest to 8 PM the day of the digest.

If this person was the only poster, then his posts will be filtered out.

The most likely thing is the setting "Send a digest if there are no new posts" is set to No. So most likely there were no new qualified posts over this time range. It triggered the message you see in the admin log.

The thing is there was a new post and it was sent only to the admin.

In fact, users have never received a digest since I installed the extension... Only the admin.

Wondering if it is working for anyone else.

Digests are installed on hundreds, if not thousands of sites in various forms from mods to extensions. Most problems are a result of email integration issues, not setting up a cron or digests going to a spam folder. Have you set up a system cron? Or do you depend on board traffic to kick off the mailer? Instructions for setting up a cron are in the first post.

In the case you show, it's a result of no "qualifying posts" being found for the time range. The filters removed any that may have been posted in that 24 hour period. Either there were no posts or the posts were from the subscriber who asked his own posts to be filtered out.

I rely on the traffic. I repeat as I said before, admin is getting the digests, but not the users.

Users get notifications when there is a reply to a topic, so no problem with that.

The only thing is that users do not get digests. From my screenshots, do you see any problem?

Thanks

I am now even trying to see if it works

Send a digest if there are no new posts --> Yes

Can you also please give me a forum where digests are working?

I install digests for many customers and troubleshoot occasional problems. My client list is confidential so I can't give you there site URLs. You might want to contact my three translators (first post) and see it on their sites. For example, my French translator Philippe has it on his French forum.

Thanks.

Now users are getting digests with this setting

Send a digest if there are no new posts --> Yes

And they get only the new posts.

I don't get it. It was set to No and there were new posts and users were not getting digests...

How is that?

The clock has moved. In the past there were no new qualifying posts but apparently some were made that now qualify plus this setting was changed. It all depends on board traffic and individual digest settings that filter potential posts and send only those that are wanted.

No the clock has not moved. We did not create any new posts.

Just changed this from no to yes:

Code: Select all

Send a digest if there are no new posts --> Yes
And users started to get emails, but only the new posts.
