I can't wait for this! Should have been something that was in the core.

Interesting extension, should be added into 3.3.x at least. ;)

Also, at a first glance seems to be well coded. Not yet tested though.
Keep doing. :)

Hi Pedro,

a very, very useful extension - i also think this is a function that
should be in the core code. Since it isn't a.t.m.: Thank You! :!:

I installed it on my 3.1.7 test board: The installation worked just fine.

It took me a bit of time to find the proper switch in the ACP to
enable it (something to mention in the docs?).

Works great at first glance! I will do more tests during the week.

I have the German translation ready, can i PM it to you?

cheers, Frank

Interesting extension. Thank you for developing it. I agree with others that this feature should be in the core code.
I have a few questions:
  1. I can't figure out what is reason to have new and old columns in edition entry. Wouldn't be better to have only one column where user can choose entries he/she wants to compare?
  2. Original message and Current are in different columns. Wouldn't be better to have it in the same column? (Maybe in first column in Editions log table).

Frank thanks for the translation, it's now available for download.

I'm working on the idea of using checkboxes in a column, I think it's more easy to use and more intuitive.

I am still searching for that, care to enlighten me? :)

If it is just a plain enable/disable in the ACP then there is actually no need for it as the very fact of enabling/disabling the extension will have the same affect. Doing a simple enable/disable in the ACP means that there is a config variable to store/retrieve/check all adding additional overhead.

There is no button to enable / disable the extension. I imagine that they refer to the required permissions to use the extension.

Found it now, I had been looking at the admin-permissions not moderator-permissions.

I wonder though: usually if making changes to posts as an admin, there is no timestamp with the post. It seems this extension will enforce that those are shown, since the link to the log is added to that timestamp?

I suppose if I allowed users to set for a post that changes should not be logged, that would suppress the timestamps, but I see no option to allow admins or moderators to change posts without a timestamp.

Is it clear, what I am getting at? The extension changes the standard way edits are handled: usually users get enforced timestamps and mod's and admin's edits only show a timestamp if a reason is given for the edit. I would prefer to keep that behaviour with the extension, to the effect that user's edits are always logged and can be checked by admins, while admin's edits are only logged when giving a reason.

the default behavior is to add all editions to the log but you can add a user permission to the administrators or moderators for your edits will not be saved in the log if they want (second image)
