Extension Name: Topic Description
Author: RMcGirr83

Description: This is a port of the phpBB version 3.0.x Topic Descriptions that adds the possibility of being able to describe topics, in posting page. Based on permissions per forum. Descriptions are displayed in viewtopic, viewforum, search results (only display results as topic) and MCP forum.

Version: 1.0.0

Download: https://github.com/rmcgirr83/topicdescr ... girr83.zip

Installation:
  1. Extract the zip rmcgirr83 to the ext directory of your forum
  2. Navigate in the ACP to Customise -> Extension Management -> Extensions.
  3. Click Enable on "Topic Description"

There is no event in the fulltext_native.php to be able to split and search for the description so no.

How about you merge this with Vinny's extension? Or he merges with you? Just save each others time I mean.

Not sure what good merging one into the other will do. I have submitted this one to the CDB for validation.

I find that quite well ext. Only I think should not a member may fill this but only an admin or a moderator. Then the whole thing should only be allowed to read out bots and remain invisible to members and guests.
Here, since the translation English - German not just good, it's all reads for me here very difficult.
Visually I do not like that, however, the description will appear behind the Topic. The whole thing is just too long.
Yet another question is how the whole looks then in google and what effect the whole? Would behind the Topic and the description are or underneath?
The idea but I like that, just the type of execution does not appeal to me.
I would a sign rich that this thread has a description.
My contributions are translated from German to English by google. This can lead to misunderstanding.

It'd be nice if descritpions would be put into html (inside <head>): <meta name="description" content="Topic Description" /> because sometimes it is used by bots and crawlers (e.g. Google) ;)

What if the user types a not so relevant description (regarding the post's content)?

For example,

Title: "Topic Description Extension"
Description: "Can someone please make one for me?"

Would you mind to request that template, please?
I think topic description should go under the title, like it happens in the mod you're porting.
I'm sorry if I look pretentious about this.
