It seem like my modifications are ignored, but why?

What is the language of your user that you use to send the test email?
Is it Dutch (NL)?
Or perhaps it is something else?
Do you have console access (SSH) to your server?

Did you purged the cache of your board after uploading the file?
Here is what I am working on right now...
Inactive User Manager for phpBB
Give it a try...
If you would like to buy me a bier ;) for my work I will drink it on a hot summer day and thank you!!!

The native language here is Dutch, so I edited in /email the content of the /nl folder, but before I do, I make sure being logged out of the forum first.
I usually make changes by downloading and save content from the FileZilla FTP-client to the hard drive first.
Then, on the hard drive I modify the downloaded content and save the changes.
Next I upload the modified files again through FileZilla FTP client, right back to the place the original files came from and choose to overwrite the content of the /nl folder with the new (modified) files.
Then I log into the phpbb3 forum and send a test email.

That did the trick.
I only cleared the cache for the browser, not at the board.
I will put this issue in my board as a question, just as an reminder to 'clear cache at the board', then refer with an link to this board for more information.
Thank you.

How do I use 'mailto:' in the email for 'admin_mail' to load into an email program?

I'm sorry but I did not understood you.
Your board users don't have to do anything...
It's only you as admin have to clear the cache of the board if you change any template files (including email.txt files)

Could you explain what exactly you want to do?

You do get me wrong.
An board member is trying the same thing with his board and he asked me how I do manage issues.
So I'll write 'clear board cache' as answer to the members question, that way it will be an reminder for me too.

What I want members to do when they want to write an message to the admin is to click at the email address, which then loads MS Outlook (or any other mail program) and open a new message with the 'admin mail address' in the to: area of the email message.

I see,

For the second part mailto: I think it's not possible...
The mailto "function" is an HTML thing but the mails are being sent in plain text format by phpbb and NOT HTML.

Is there any other way to get this done in php?

Because of that I also found another missconfiguration on the info that is shown in the user list...
So I double thank you for reporting your findings!
best regards,

Hi Ivan007,

Can you believe that I got my laptop back just a week ago?
Anyway, unfortunately there is no progress so far.
But, I promise to work on it this week.
I was looking at how it is setup in phpbb and it was not clear for me how the different basic groups are handled but I think I got it now...
So please excuse me for the big delay!

How many are using this ext.
I am asking to see if it worth to find a way to try to keep the current data on the next rc OR if it would be ok to start for you from scratch.

If you want to keep the counters and dates etc of IUM I'll have to find a way to do it so. It's not that hard but it will make the installation of the ext a little bit weird. Because it will create a table, but then it will have to delete that table and use phpbb_users table instead (because of requirements).
OR
If you don't care that much about it (that much). Then I'll create directly what is needed (from scratch) where it suppose to be with no much fuss...
Let me know!

*If there won't be a fare amount of response I'll choose 2nd option (from scratch, which is much more easy for me!).

Thank you!
