[3.1][3.2][RC] Simple Header Banner

Post by HiFiKabin » Tue Jan 03, 2017 2:15 pm

Extension Name: Header Banner
Author: HiFiKabin

Extension Description: Removes the content of the header replacing it with a banner of your choice that scales to the browser window. Undersized banners are centred on wide browser windows. The search (if enabled) can be placed on the header (top left/top right/bottom left/bottom right) moved to the NavBar or hidden.

You can radius the corners of the banner, as well as set its maximum size.

The banner is linked to the url that the site_logo is linked to

Notes:
  • The image must be a standard image extension eg .jpg .gif .png etc
  • If you host the image on your own server, place it in the images directory in the form root. To ensure it will appear on all pages, please still enter the full URL eg http://mysite.com/images/banner.jpg
  • By setting the maximum width you can widen a small banner but it may distort of become pixilated.
  • Compatible with my Google Search Extension

Language:
  • EN
Extension Version: 3.1.0_RC11/3.2.0_RC11 Image

Supported Styles:
  • prosilver
Screenshots:

Would be interesting to see the advanced ability to have folders for banners for specific dates and have it change the banner based on the date, else use a default banner:

April Fools
folder name: 01-04

Christmas(Winter)
folder name: 10-12-29-12

When I saw this topic I was reminded of a php banner rotation script posted in the 3.0.x Mod Writers forum.

Interesting, but you should use a sortable date for the folder name (eg. ISO-format YYYY-MM-DD or MM-DD for single dates, YYYY-MM-DD_YYYY-MM-DD or MM-DD_MM_DD for periods). But much better would be a database entry maintained via ACP, so you can put in also variable dates like easter or carnival

Yeah I still had the script I was talking about, so I just quickly copied their folder examples. That's how the put the dates, which I thought was weird, but I'm not a php or javscript programmer, so I had to live with it. Haven't used it in awhile.

I have a 3.2rc2 test board installed. And this ext is not showing up anywhere. Is it rc1 only?

The demo board is RC2

Have you looked in the correct place?

I suggest you disable, delete data and try a new download. Make sure you select the 3.2.x version as the 3.1.x will not install on a 3.2.x board.

I have it locally and on line and it works correctly in both places
