I'm running this on a Linux-based Hosting service, and I have the same problem (inadequate usage during "off-hours"). To resolve this, I created a cron job

Code: Select all

# Run the phpBB crontab command
*/5 * * * * /usr/local/bin/php /home/user/forum-directory/bin/phpbbcli.php cron:run
This runs the phpBB cron check every 5 minutes.

I expect that Windows can do something similar.

It should be noted that the backup will slowly shift to a later time. This issue has been addressed previously in this topic.
Before to do that, in ACP on the “Server settings” page you have to activate the setting “Run periodic tasks from system cron”.

Maybe i'm the only one with this problem, maybe it isn't a problem after all.
Every time when the auto backup system creates a backup the timer is placed about an hour in advance.
Every backup the clock is placed in the future.

For example. The timer is set at 2am. When i click Ok the timer goes to 3am. The next day the database is created at 4:15am en so on..

Ah thanks for the links. The extension does make a backup but changes the new time of backup like in the 2nd link.
Now i know why the backup isn't exactly on time, but why does it it change future backups after every backup? same issue?

There is a minor problem that I have not had time to get to the bottom of which is to do with timezones/server time/DST

Probably today the European Commission is going to abolish the Daylight Saving Time altogether. I would highly welcome it!

Hi everyone!

I have uploaded and enabled the extension, however I do not see its settings under the tab "extensions". I have also purged the cache to no avail.

Any help, please? Thanks!

But it makes no sense backing up the database without the files...

Why? If you lose the files it's very easy to recover if you lose the db that's the end of it. In any case, if you're not continually editing core files and have one copy of the latest files you shouldn't need any more copies, they're static, the db isn't.

Need to test it, but if you had extensions enabled, probably you would get some nice errors when you only have the database backup to recover.

Not if you have the files (which you will already have downloaded) still in the ext folder

So you should have backed up the files too, right?
