I am an administrator and moderator. There is no special icon?

If you want an icon, it's real easy:

ACP/Posting/BBCodes/Add a new BBCode

BBCode usage: [mod={SIMPLETEXT;optional;defaultValue=}]{TEXT}[/mod]

HTML replacement: <p class="bbc_mod_head">{L_MODBREAK_HEAD}{SIMPLETEXT}</p><div class="bbc_mod_text">{TEXT}</div>

Help line: Message from moderator: [mod]message[/mod]

Group permissions: Administrators, Global moderators, + any custom
Is possible, all for Admin and moderators
Not for members
Sorry English is not my native language

Look a little bit down the screen from where you enter that stuff and you'll see where you can select Group permissions. You can't miss it. I'm surprised you missed it!

Those groups give permissions. Click on which ones you want and save.

I've had some private talk with Hartenheer (Dutch is easier for him) and explained that while the use of the Modbreak is limited to moderators, I have chosen not to show the BBcode button in the posting screen. To show that button only for moderators with permission in said forum would require quite a bunch of extra code with very limited value for most people.

If someone has a good idea how to implement it, I'm open to suggestions.
My extensions:
Simple CMS, Feed post bot, Avatar Resize, Modbreak, Magic OGP, Live topic update, Modern Quote, Quoted Where (GDPR) and Autoresponder.
Newest: FAQ manager for 3.2

I agree with you 100%, too much effort for too little use.

Mods SHOULD be advanced users capable of typing in the BBCode manually!

Consider changing the description so people understand there's NOT SUPPOSED to be an icon for it:
* "Extension Description: Adds a hidden BBcode for moderator remarks, only usable for moderators "
or
* "Extension Description: Adds a secret BBcode for moderator remarks, only usable for moderators"

Didn't think of that. It's "somewhat intended", since I use {SIMPLETEXT} for the name token. It takes only characters from the latin alphabet (A-Z), numbers, spaces, commas, dots, minus, plus, hyphen and underscore.

You can fix it by going to the ACP -> Posting -> BBcodes -> mod=
Look in both textareas fo {SIMPLETEXT} and replace it with {INTTEXT}. If that doesn't cover all special characters for your board you can try setting it to {TEXT}. That works always, but is also less secure.

{INTTEXT} and {TEXT} are basically the same, I recommend always using {TEXT} rather than {INTTEXT}.
I wrote the thing that does BBCodes in 3.3.

{TEXT} was always recommended against since the early 3.0(.2?) days because of possible XSS. Since I know you created the new BBcode engine, is this still an issue?

It's not, and based on what I read about it I also believe it hasn't been an issue for years in 3.1. I can't say for sure but it looks like INTTEXT was created to allow more or less any text except for quotes that would allow to break out of an attribute, but even in 3.1 I don't think that quotes can be used to break out of an attribute anyway.

Either way, anywhere you'd use INTTEXT you can use TEXT instead.
