Can everyone recognize in the list of topics that it is a highlight?
Would you mind to re-phrase your question please?

Before anyone in the topic overview clicks on the article title as someone recognizes the posts in the topic have a highlight marker?

Bye Jan

When configuring the extension: inserting the hexcodes via the build-in colour picker only works for prosilver - for other styles they have to be inserted manually.

Styles installed: prosilver, Aero, Basic, my own wip-style
Okay, I think I got your point here.. you surely mean that once installed, only prosilver - in the drop-down selector for styles - got the preset colours?

Yes, the migration presets those CSS colors (to be overriden if you so wish) only for it.

Leaving all of the others styles to naturally inherit from it as per its fallback, till you select some colours for them.
Aero: https://prnt.sc/im6fdb
prosilver: https://prnt.sc/im6fyn

Once the color-picker opens the dialog on those styles, the colours's placeholders are nulled (inherits from the CSS), just select a BASE colour there and adjust it about nuances as a secondary step, that's it. No need to input manually any hexdec.
example: http://prntscr.com/im6gb8 (you may decide to differ just one color from the CSS of prosilver, like here)

I will make a short video in the next few days and I will put it on the Wiki. We can't assume how many and which styles each end user have installed that's why it's prosilver based.

Please ask if I didn't explain this in a exhaustive manner. Thx. :)

Sorry but.. still I am getting hard-time to understand your question. :?

All what the extension does it is very well explained/pictured in the Wiki (see first post).

Moreover you could install the extension on a test board and see for yourself what it does and what not.
Simple as it is. :geek: Thanks.

If you mean, when viewing a topic list (on viewforum) that you can see if a topic contains a 'highlighted' post. Then no, that's not included and is counter intuitive to what we want to achieve.

This doesn't bother me as I expected this kind of behaviour: it's logic and, besides that, I did read the Wiki first - I'm old school whwn it comes to getting informed before writing

This was the way it worked when prosilver was selected but not when picking one of the alternative styles I had installed. With them I couldn't get it to work the way it should have for the life of me - yesterday ...

Today, a few restarts of XAMPP and the test boards later: no more problems and all running smoothly.
I guess I once again need to have a word with my personal IT ghost ...

Sorry for the false alarm

Archive repackaged for the sake of the directory's structure, no changes applied to the code. :geek:

Anytime. :)

To test all of the features locally, be sure to make the use of two browsers and Board's accounts (admin/standard user).

And read the Wiki linked in the first post to begin with.

Looking good, I can report. All updates working like a charm for me and haven't noticed any issues with the latest iteration. Students are loving the highlight posts feature! And for me it's just an added functionality convey important information to my students in an organized way. Gold star....perfect. The PM and email notification option is also excellent. Very handy for instructional forums.

I can imagine a bit of a revision of the "mark posts read" functionality. Working on getting my ideas sorted. Generally, my sense is that the forum admin needs to have better reporting with regard to who has marked what posts as read. I think there are many directions to go with this.

Then the other question is how to use the functionality to actually get students/users to read topic threads, and posts. Some systems "mark as read" when a student simply scrolls by the post. But this seems problematic to me. So what if a student scrolls by a bunch of posts? That tells me nothing. And does nothing to encourage student interaction.

A different approach would be to think about the incentive for students to 'mark posts as read.' How could 'marking a post as read' be a benefit to students, in a way that they know it's a benefit? So they are encouraged to "mark as read" because they get some useful information in return, or can increase their participation score in the class. 3Di let's discuss at some point. I have some ideas for additions...PM'd.
Are you a skilled extension developer? I need an extension developed right now. Here are the general specs. Please PM me if interested.
