Hi,
Is it possible to use the button only without any highlight ?
Is it compatible with phpBB 3.3.0.

Yes, have a look at our WIKI, specifically the Permissions section.

Not tested, I will tell you how to make it installable with 3.3 but we are not bound to provide support for it till the next release, so you are on your own, please do not report bugs about phpBB 3.3 here if any but in our GitHub tracker or at our website in case, thanks.

Well, this line
https://github.com/phpBB-Studio/Highlig ... xt.php#L33

Code: Select all

		if ( !(phpbb_version_compare(PHPBB_VERSION, '3.2.1', '>=') && phpbb_version_compare(PHPBB_VERSION, '3.3.0@dev', '<')) )
Change it to

Code: Select all

		if ( !(phpbb_version_compare(PHPBB_VERSION, '3.2.1', '>=') && phpbb_version_compare(PHPBB_VERSION, '4.0.0@dev', '<')) )
It should install then.

Hi,
I've downloaded the extension from Gitub, made the modification and uploaded to /ext/threedi/HighlightPosts-master
but I don't see it among the inactive extensions in PCA.

Do not use github. See the first post for the correct link, instructions and WIKI.

I've downoaded this other zip and modified /ext/threedi/hlposts/ext.php as you said
now I find the extension in the ACP but trying to activate it gives Erreur AJAX Service Unavailable
will report it on Gitub.

Edit : on second try it is activated.

I've set the permissions as explained but don't see any new control on the posts to "highlight" it.
I only want the "Marked read" Icon

@Hervé,

Les réglages figurent sur cette page.

C'est surtout la section "ACP Permissions" (menu sur la droite) que tu dois consulter, car il faut accorder les permissions à différents endroits, pas seulement dans la page modérateurs globaux.

@Paul,

I said Hervé that he should visit the wiki page, where all ACP permissions are clearly explained.

Yes, I understand both, thanks :mrgreen:
I set the permissions as stated here https://github.com/phpBB-Studio/Highlig ... ermissions
except I gave no permisison to ordinary users as they should not see that the post has been read (thought ...)
I guess moderators must click on the eye to mark the post as read
but still don't see any eye, or is there something I didn't understood ?

Thanks for trying to help.
I clear the cache every time I modify something in the PCA, I did it once more : no eye.
Can you show me how the button to click on to say "post read" should look like ?

No way, sorry, I removed the extension 2 or 3 weeks ago. 3Di should be able to answer.

1 - ACP / forums / edit forum set the extension to enabled on a per forum basis (See WIKI - ACP Forums)
2 - Permissions, set to NO the 2 user permissions for the group Registered (See WIKI - Permissions)
3 - Permissions, grant to the group Moderators of your choice the 2 user permissions you denied above.

There are a lot of images in the wiki if you want to have a look.

:!: - At this very point though the actual code doesn't show 2 icons (eye red/green and eye/orange) since the extension has not been made with this feature in mind, so I have modified the logic here in my development environment to include this feature. I did it just because I think it is a nice improvement and does not interfere with the normal behaviour.

We will post here once the new version is ready. Currently under review and test.

Here is how it looks like

1 - Red eye = post marked as read (current user view)
2 - Green eye = post not marked as read (current user view)
3 - Orange eye = Go to the page and see who marked it as read (moderator view)

Good morning 3Di,
Thank you for taking my request into account.

In Wiki ACP-Forums I read "By default Highlight Posts is enabled on all forums"
So I didn't go through this because that's wuat I want.
However I have had a look : the extension is disabled on all forums !
Is there a way to enable it by default not to be obliged to modify them one by one ?

You write "At this very point though the actual code doesn't show 2 icons"
What is the the goal of these 2 parameters in PCA Highlight posts Settings :
Here below you may chose to have the icon(s) on both locations simultaneously ...
Location of “mark read” icon : Within the posting buttons Oui Non
Location of “mark read” icon : In the miniprofile next to posts Oui Non
