yea, if you made an extension to get FA5 in phpBB (without breaking things!), i would definitely use it.

Yes I have done it dingus33. I have it all together and working with the Font Awesome Free version.
It ended up having 1487 Awesome icons to select from. We can't go Fa-Pro fo mo without paying.

Note: Some icon names have been changed in Fa5 and some moved into Fa-Pro
It's not just fa fa-coffee in Fa5 it's fas and fab also. But it's a nice selection.

Let me tidy some codes up and I will post a Font Awesome 5 BBCode Update

The icon for choosing the fa-icon in the toolbar above the messagefield is higher then the other icons. Is there a reason?

The point dingus33 mentioned about breaking anything with updates is something which has always prevented me from using fa extensions.

It should be fine. Fa 4.7 is installed on our phpbb board by default. This ext just over rides those settings.
The 4.7 version should have been removed from the templates to where it would not load. Then this version 5 installed.
But I chose to leave 4.7 in tack and have version 5 over ride the settings. This gave us 121 more icons to choose from in fa.

@ Holger, you must be running posting buttons ext. It is using the regular template for that button because it has the same event.
My copy of posting buttons is updated with it's own events but we need the aurthor, dmzx to look at updating it.
I ran across that issue last year on another ext. But I will see what can be done with that.

fas vs fab? There is a solid set of 956 icons used with 'fas' and there is a brands set of 428 icons used with 'fab'
Any icons using fas can use fa also. [fas]clock[/fas] will also work [fa]clock[/fa]
But the first 122 fa fa-icon selections have to use [fa], they can not use [fas] these are the leftover fa icons from 4.7
And fab is used only for the brands set of icons.

No you don't need that ext. Fa, fas and fab are in version 5 so yes those are suppose to be in the language file.

If we can get this version 5 ironed out we need to look into 3Di's other suggestions like using forkawesome or fortawesome.

ACP settings for popup window size, icons per page and posted fa-icon color.

I look forward to your update for version 1.0.0 because at home (phpbb 3.2.7) there is only this version that works.
So having a popup that would allow us to select the awesome font for inclusion in a message would be of great benefit to my forum users.

Currently we use a "written" list of fonts to just copy the name of this one between the two tags [fa] name-of-the-fonteawesome [/ fa] like this:

and once posted, the cast-awesome appears well.
