Recurring MySQL error

Post by hostrup » Fri Aug 15, 2008 11:16 am

Okay, I have searched around for this problem for a couple of weeks now before posting this, and I did find some cases with almost similar problems, but none seems to adress the exact issue on my site.

My site runs perfectly, most of the time. But, occasionally, at least once a day, sometimes more, I get a blue page with a MySQL warning, about phpbb3 not being able to connect to the database. I would post a screenshot, but the error hasnt popped up today yet. I will return to the thread and post it, as soon as I get the error. If I recall correctly its a 2013 or 2014 error. If anyone knows what I am talking about already, without the screenshot, please do weigh in and help me :D

Thank you very much all
Jonas

Maybe your server load is to high. This could result in an error like this. You should check that.
But without the exact error message, that is just a guess.

If i remember correctly, too many connections just generates a mySQL error that says 'too many connections', so I don't think it's the server load. I think you need to talk to your web hosting company about this because it sounds like the mySQL daemon* isn't running on the server. Sorry! what am I thinking? If mysql wasn't running you probably wouldn't get too many error messages from it! Yeah, 2013 is 'Lost connection with remote server during query'. Sounds like your mySQL and website are hosted on different machines? Definitely a case for your web host!

* erm, assuming it's a *nix server, that is. Dunno what Windows call their processes!)

I cant imagine its a overload error, as their are only a few members online. I am trying to provoke the error screen, but dont know how. So I guess you have to wait until I can post it here..

With my host? But what is the problem?

I will contact them, but they will want to know what to look for.

Yeah, stevemaury's right: give them the message, tell them how often you're getting it. It's a server problem, no doubt at all.
