META Tags - Changing Overall Header not working

Post by scozzie »

Hi all,

I just installed my first phpBB forums today! I'm really loving them so far!

I have one question. I'm trying to verify my forums with Google Webmaster Tools by adding a META tag.

I added the line to /styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.html but when I view the forums in a browser and view source, the added META line doesn't show in the code. I am using the default prosilver style.

I'm at a complete loss, if anyone is able to help that would be great.

Thanks.

Did you refresh the template in ACP, Styles? You must.

Have you purged the cache after you add the line in the header? :)

Refresh templates, go to: ACP ==> Tab "Styles" ==> Templates ==> Refresh. ;)

Purging the cache is also available in the ACP. At the beginpage when you enter the ACP, you'll see at the bottom of the page a option to Purge the cache.

Thanks again for your help.

While on topic of META, is there any way to set META tags for individual forums or posts? Ive had a quick look but cant find anything relevant.

Sorry where do I put that code?

How does that work? DO I replace "Metatag" with the tag I want? is this per forum?

The code would go in overall_header.html. You would replace "Metatag" with the actual Meta tag language you want. You would replace N with the id# of the forum.

But why would you want to do this? What are you trying to accomplish?
