Firstly, to clarify, did you give said individual your username and password? If so, you were not hacked -- simply cheated by your friend ;) If that's the case, do you have database access?

Hopefully, if you were legitimately hacked, you or your host makes regular backups. Unless their is another way to fix it that I am unaware of?

What you will need to do is login to Cpanel and open up phpmyadmin for your site.

Then you will need to open up the phpbb3_users table under the db and edit the password for your username.

This should then fix your problem.

In which case, given that she had your account information, no "hack" occurred -- she simply used the information you had given her. That being said, ask your host how to utilize a database management tool like phpMyAdmin. If you do, you can register a new user, find the user in the phpbb_users table (should be on the last page if it's newly registered), edit it, and set the user_type to 3 -- this will give the user founder access, and will allow you to change the password on your old account.

Is this even possible since it's a hash? Or can you just enter in a new password like that?

You should be able to enter in a new password for the user and click save.

Just make sure you don't make any other edits elsewhere and only edit the password for that user only otherwise you can ruin your site as the db is what runs your site.

Login to your account from Lunar Pages. From there you should be able to find a subsection for databases or MySQL or something of the sort, and within that you should be able to find something like phpMyAdmin. Once you have done so, click phpbb_users from the list of tables on the left. After you've done this, click "Browse" on the table in the right pane. Now, register a new user on your board. Once you've done so, go to the bottom of the "Browse" page and click the [>>] button. This should advance you to the last page of users. Here, find your new user, and click the pencil icon next to their username. Scroll down until you find "user_type", and change the value to 3. After you've done this, scroll to the bottom and save it.

Now, login using that new account. It should have ACP access, where you can proceed to change your old username's email address and password in order to reclaim it.

Who did you sign up for your site with??

What is the url of your site?

Might be able to do a lookup to see whether your host is definitely Lunarpages.

The fastest way to prevent further vandalism is to open the site with your FTP program and rename your phpbb....

Then follow iWisdom's advice for reestablishing the login.

Once you have gotten into there follow iWisdom's advice/steps on fixing the issue.

The registration he is talking about needs to be done on the forum first and then just edit the permissions section for the new user to become a founder on the db itself.
