Lots of duplicate emails being sent

Version of phpBB3: 3.0.2
Was this a fresh install or a(n) update/upgrade/conversion (please be specific)? fresh install. Upgraded database from version 2.
Did you use an automated wizard provided by your host to install phpBB? no
MODs you have installed: none
When the problem started: since I added the correct email settings
Your level of expertise (be honest): 6 years, not in php, although I know roughly what is going on when looking at the code.

After I got the forum up and running there were email errors being generated. I got those sorted out (incorrect email settings) and then I started recieving emails. But instead of 1 notification I keep receiving them, approx 50-75 a day

This is not unique to my user ID as another user is getting the same issue.

If you need anymore information that I may have missed let me know

Do you have access to the logs for the email server you are using?

In addition to the information iWisdom asked for, it might be helpful to know if there is a queue.php file in phpBB's cache folder, and how old it is.

No, I only have access to the normal log file and there is nothing in there about emails.

Yes that exists, it was last modified on 1st Oct.

), but if memory serves there might also then be a lock.php file in the cache folder. I suggest deleting both the queue and lock files and see if the board stops sending repeat e-mail.

Same problem under IIS7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 with 3.0.7-PL1 and 3.08
we use Plesk 9.5.2 too

\cache\queue.php and \cache\queue.lock.php deleted

seems to be solved for the moment, renaming the folder and creating it again with the index.htm file and. htaccess

it's a IIS issue only? plesk?
