Is there a version of phpBB that works with Access?

Hi there... I am trying to deply 3.0 right now (first time user) and I was told it will not work with Access databases. Is there a version of phpBB that will work with an Access database? I know, it's not my preference but our host wants to charge us $10/month for a MSSql or MySQL database and we're a non-profit society and can't afford that. Any suggestions? My host tells me that he thinks there is an older version of phpBB that did work with Access. Is this true?

but if more than a couple of people are on your board at one time, it will slow down or stop working.

Access is not the right type of database to use for a web based application. It is for keeping track of your record collection or whatever.

YOu should find a better host. NO decent host would charge you for MySql. It is free.

You can even find free hosts that offer the minimum requirements for installing and running phpbb.

Actually they've pretty much given us the keys to the whole universe with this package. I'm not sure I talked with the same guy today who set us up but I'm going to keep working on them.

It's not likely to be a high traffic BB so I may run v.2 for now and see how it goes.

Hi,

Worth noting that support for v2.0.x will be withdrawn at some stage.. Soon.
Retirement!

You would do with considering alternative DB software. Even 2.0.x was a dog on access.

Des. . . ;)

yes, but if that universe consists of a windows server with only MS Access for a database, then you might wind up in a black hole and not be able to get out.
