Requested User does not exist

Only the last few days, when a new user joins, i click on the link to view the profile from the email i get and it says user does not exist. Any ideas why? I have only since installed a new style but I put it on pro silver and it does the same.

Version of phpBB3: 3.0.2
Was this a fresh install or a(n) update/upgrade/conversion (please be specific)? originally an upgrade from 2.0.22 but has worked ok up till now. Last user joined a week ago it was fine.
Did you use an automated wizard provided by your host to install phpBB? no
MODs you have installed: activity stats and prime links.
When the problem started: only noticed it today.
Your level of expertise (be honest): average, can install mods etc ok and install/permissions a doddle

What is the text of the link you are seeing in your Email? and does the user linked exist?

The problem is now I have to login and the activate the account but i didnt previously. yes the user does exist, I have done the same with a test user and it did the same.

Do you mean you didn't have to log-on before, or that you didn't have to activate it before?

In answer to your second question I didnt have to login before just click the link and it would activate.

well kind of, more to the fact that why does it not come up with a login box as oppose to user does not exist?

The user does exist now. What did you do to make that happen, or does it only happen the very first time you visit the link?

I havent touched the link as i would like help fixing it. If i click the link:

Now log in as admin, and try browsing to the same address.

It works that way however it did take me to a login box before, I havent changed anything. I guess my main point is that the user(s) clearly do exist, its just i cannot use the email to click on to view the profile now.

You cannot view the profile of a member who is not yet activated if you are not currently logged in as the admin, so everything goes back to your auto-login not working.

the only thing i changed over the last week is the template so i have out it back to the old one and it does the same thing eg auto login not working.

Is this a bug in 3.0.2, i just wonder if i upgrade to fix it?
