Bold, Italics and Smileys not working

Post by nickybics »

Hello,

The formatting (bold italics etc) and smileys are not working on my phpbb board. No tags are inserted and text does not appear bold.

It has recently been upgraded (see details below) but works fine in all other respects.

I'd really appreciate any help as this is a community board that is in regular use.

Thanks,

Nicola

SRT:
Your board's URL: http://www.equineramblersuk.co.uk/horse-talk/
Version of phpBB3: 3.0.x
Was this a fresh install or a(n) update/upgrade/conversion (please be specific)? Upgrade from phpBB 2
Did you use an automated wizard provided by your host to install phpBB? No - it worked fine originally until it was upgraded. This is when all smileys & text formatting stopped working.
MODs you have installed: None
When the problem started: Since the upgrade - everything else works fine but I can't add smileys or format text
Your level of expertise (be honest): Intermediate php programmer (5yrs). Worked with phpBB for 2yrs ish.

Additionally, you may wish to provide the following (where applicable)
Template(s) used: own version of your templates - didn't change anything other than stylesheets for colours.
Language(s) used: php cgi asp asp.net ruby on rails (personally) actual board runs on php, css, html
Version of PHP used: 4 or 5 (server supports both)
Database and version used: mySQL 5 (I think but there is no issue with the db as far as I can see as everything else works fine!)

Thanks!!

It looks to me that your theme paths are broken. Take a look at this in your source:

Code: Select all

<link href="../../prosilver/template/./styles/equine/theme/normal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" title="A" />

Thanks - how do I fix this. I followed the instructions on how to create new themes carefully.

You could not have.... Otherwise why would have "prosilver" in the path for your new theme?

Those links show go to {T_THEME_PATH}} with nothing on the front.
Did you use Dreamwever, or some other software to edit your files? Software like that commonly corrupts links like that.

The reason your buttons are not working, is this line in posting_buttons.html:

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript" src="../../equine/template/{T_TEMPLATE_PATH}/editor.js"></script>
that should say simply:

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript" src="{T_TEMPLATE_PATH}/editor.js"></script>

I've changed none of the code, only the CSS file which you do online.

Definitely no Dreamweaver ever :-)

So where did all those weird ../../stylename paths come from?
There is nothing like that in prosilver, which is where you would have copied from. What did you use to copy the files?
