Not able to send mass emails HELP

Post by warmpointproject » Mon Dec 08, 2008 11:32 pm

For some reason when I try to send a mass email to all members of our forum it just wont work.....I get the following message

"There were one or more errors while sending the e-mail. Please check the Error log for detailed error messages."

When I check the error log it says

"E-mail error
» EMAIL/PHP/mail()
/adm/index.php"

Any ideas why this is happening?

Any updates on what would be causing the error when trying to send a mass email?

"E-mail error
» EMAIL/PHP/mail()
/adm/index.php"

Same problem dude.

Was just about to post my own topic.

I get a blank page after I hit submit & the mail never goes.

I have the same problem, not sure there is a fix as it appears all over the place on here.

I followed this: Extract email info

Then used my third party mail account to send the emails.

It's just as easy.

I have members who have asked not to recieve emails so I can't do that.

I would like to know how this suddenly happened out of the blue & how it suddenly happened to so many others at seemingly the exact same time.

A fellow user helped me sort mine out, just a few settings really.

I may be able to help you or not but I can show you what I was told to do :shock:

These are the settings that work for me:

In ACP>E-mail settings:
 • Enable board-wide e-mails: enabled
 • Users send e-mail via board: enabled
 • E-mail function name: mail
 • E-mail package size: 0
 • Contact e-mail address: youremail@dot.com
 • Return e-mail address: youremail@dot.com
 • E-mail signature: whatever you want
 • Hide e-mail addresses: yes
 • Use SMTP server for e-mail: yes (....u need settings from your host)
 • SMTP server address: your hosts email server eg: youremail.out.com etc.
 • SMTP server port: 25
 • Authentication method for SMTP: plain
 • SMTP username: leave blank
 • SMTP password: leave blank
then press submit

if 25 doesnt work in the smtp server port then try 2525

I experience problems with mass mails en notification mails.
The mails send during registration are correctly send. All other types of mails aren't.

I found a 'work around' to get the mass/bulk mail back to work again.

Find line 125 of /include/acp/acp_email.php
It says:

Code: Select all

($row['user_notify_type'] == NOTIFY_BOTH && $row['user_email'] && $row['user_jabber']))
Remove the jabber part, as this will cause problems when no jabber adress is set (blank jabber adress).
I can do this because jabber is not enabled on my forum.

It is VERY quick and dirty, but at least it worked to get de bulk mail back to work.
It did NOT work for notifications!!

It could also be something with the 'user_notify_type' not beeing set correctly.

Hopfully this helps the developers to pinpoint the problem.
