What happened to it?

Last night I installed the meta tags mod and the site was fine, logged into it just now and I got:

Fatal error: Not able to open ./cache/data_global.php in /home/catwalk/public_html/forum/includes/acm/acm_file.php on line 112

I've tried refreshing etc. but nothing happens.

First of all check the file permissions on the cache folder:
Knowledge Base - phpBB3 Chmod Permissions
Once you have done that remove manually (through FTP) all files from that folder except for: index.htm and .htaccess and let your board regenerate the files by accessing the forum.

Have you made sure the correct write permissions are stored on the cache folder?
Also, check your file edits are correct with the mod you installed.
