Global Announcements not showing ??

Post by jtryptophan » Tue Jan 06, 2009 3:42 am

Hello -

I was doing some mod work and now my global announcements are hidden. I can search and find them, make them Sticky and they show, but no Global Announcements appear in any forum. What could I have done?

Thanks.

Joel

check that - no announcements of any kind, not just global.

What is the address of your board?

This is kinda important.. so bump ^^

Or could anyone point me in the direction of the part of viewforum or viewtopic I may have erased that normally controls the announcements? :o

Or, are announcements controlled from the ACP where my button finger may have slipped?

Thanks!

I have a renewed faith in my abilities.

It took me 2 hours and I received no assistance. :)

1 line of code was missing to viewforum.php - 1 line!

Code: Select all

$announcement-list[ ] =$row ['topic_id']]=true;
<--- the line or something like it

Now, this line of code was nowhere near where I was making my modifications.

So, now I'm paranoid and think that either:
a) a hacker is trying to break me down by messing with my mind 1 line of code at a time.
b) when the server crashes, tiny bits of code like this are swallowed by the internet black hole.
c) i caused this to happen and will never know why.

Which is most likely?

This is supposed to be amusing. :P

Hence the importance of making backup copies of your files before you edit them ;)

If you don't already have it, grab a copy of Winmerge.
