Strange sql error in 3.0.0

Post by DoYouSpeakWak »

Hey support

One of the members on a board im maintaining emailed me toadya about an error he got after editing his post.

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Incorrect string value: '\xEF\xBF\xBDte ...' for column 'post_subject'
at row 1 [1366]
The \xEF\xBF\xBDte really gets me confused. And the strange thing there is no other errors when i do the same as he did in any post. Any idea what can have caused this ?

DYSW

Edit: I just got the url of the post he tried to edit and i now can see the error myself. i got this error when i tried editing in his post. A post that had some strange signs in it.

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

to this. Also changed the subjtect to "test test"

Code: Select all

test test
I still get the above error when pressing submit after editing the post.

Edit: Since this seems to involve prime post revisions in some ways iwe asked in that topic as well. http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 0#p8497315 If its only about this mod ill stop asking here.

Make sure the collation on the post_subject field of the phpbb_posts table is one of the utf8_* variants.

Looking at your edit, this is only for the phpbb_post_revisions table, you'll need to check the collation on that field too.

Thx for that answer :)

In that table it looks like this. I really cant see a reason for the swedish. No se language installed on board. but the obvious thing to do is change them to the same as in post_subject in posts.

That's just the default for latin1. Switch it to one of the utf8_ collations.
