'STYLES' tab missing in ACP

Post by Daedelus »

When I log in to the Admin Control Panel I do not see the STYLES tab. All I see is General, Forums, Posting, Users and Groups, Permissions, Maintenance, System.

I have uploaded a new style via FTP but I can't add it.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Probably you don't have access to it.

If you do have access to everything (your account marked as "founder"), then probably you've messed up modules somewhere. Check it in modules manager in "system" tab.

Thanks - you are right I was logged in on an account that did not have 'Founder' status.
I installed it successfully once I changed user.

I just got nailed by this problem. I was logging in with the admin account. All seemed fine. Then I noticed that I couldn't see the styles tab without any prior warning. I'm not sure what to do as the user_type in the back end is "0" (and there seem to be a couple of members with this) and don't know what makes someone a "founder" versus an administrator. It's still a tad confusing to me but the bottom line is that my admin is no longer the super admin for reasons I can't explain.

Looking further - I'm still tagged as "site admin" but I don't see a lot of the items in the admin panel. It's as if I'm a lower level than a true admin. How can I manually reset this using mysql? This is not good...

Is it possible another admin with founder status changed your access?

The rank "Site Admin" means nothing.

This query:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET `user_type` = 3 WHERE `username` = 'your username';

Thanks guys... but still nothing. It is not possible that anyone else changed my access.

I used phpmyadmin to change the account to user_type of 3 but it didn't work.

When I tried to access the admin control panel I did notice that I still get this:

"Access to the Administration Control Panel is not allowed as you do not have administrative permissions."

If I login to the backend after logging in and getting the admin panel link, I see a link also to the moderator control paenl. So obviously changing the account to user_type of 3 in the phpbb_users table isn't doing the trick. Could there be something else that would force the admin to be a moderator as it appears to be?

In phpmyadmin, run the following, which will create an admin user named admin1 with a password of admin. From that point you should be able to get into the ACP. Change your table prefix if it is not phpbb_.

Code: Select all

INSERT INTO phpbb_users (user_type, group_id, username, username_clean, user_regdate, user_password, user_email, user_lang, user_style, user_rank, user_colour, user_posts, user_permissions, user_ip, user_birthday, user_lastpage, user_last_confirm_key, user_post_sortby_type, user_post_sortby_dir, user_topic_sortby_type, user_topic_sortby_dir, user_avatar, user_sig, user_sig_bbcode_uid, user_from, user_icq, user_aim, user_yim, user_msnm, user_jabber, user_website, user_occ, user_interests, user_actkey, user_newpasswd) VALUES (3, 5, 'Admin1', 'admin1', 0, '21232f297a57a5a743894a0e4a801fc3', '[email protected]', 'en', 1, 1, 'AA0000', 1, '', '', '', '', '', 't', 'a', 't', 'd', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '');

This is a bug. After doing a lot of Google searching, I was told

"delete the cache."

Once I did that... we're all happy. I don't know how this happened but I got booted out as admin. Clearing the cache restored the rights. As I'm not the only one, someone might want to look into this.

Thank you all so much for your quick help and suggestions.
