Questions for the Cadre!

Post by El Nego » Tue Mar 31, 2009 3:44 pm

Hey just some general support questions here posed by my mods..

1) Can we make a forum for the Admins that the Global Moderators can't see?
2) How can we put a guy to work on the site design without letting said guy mess with our admin stuff?
3) Can we change the post count number, so we can put the number that we had in an old forum?

Any help by the phpBB gods, or any of you who have a better understanding than this newb...would help.

1: Yes, create the forum and go to the Permissions tab. Then go to Groups' forum permissions and only give the Administrators group permissions to see it. Since the other group don't get permissions, they won't be able to see that forum.

2: Just find somebody you trust. Because it would be handy if you could test things when working on the design of a forum.

3: Change User's post count

1) Yes after creating the forum go to permissions and remove all permissions except for admins.
2) The safest way would be to send him a copy of the files then have him send you the changes. Otherwise you would have to give him FTP access and he could potentially change anything.
3) The global post count on the post count on one forum?

I guess there is no other way besides adding a mod then, huh?
