Upload your favicon to your boards root folder
Open:styles/prosilver/templates/overall_header.html
Find:

Code: Select all

</head>
Add Before:

Code: Select all

<link rel='icon' href='http://xxxxxxx.com/favicon.ico' type='image/x-icon' />
purge the cache through the ACP index to apply changes. :)

Using the search engine of your choice do an Internet search. There are websites which can convert your graphic image to a favicon. Most will also have tips on solving common favicon problems.

You could also use an image editor to create your favicon file. A few editors I like are IrfanView and Gimp.

Even by putting your favicon.ico file in the root directory of your domain ie. yourdomain.com/favicon.ico, your browser should automatically find it without the code, though the W3C recommends that you use the code that CodemasterX wrote. :)

You also are not required to put the image file in your web root either, as that is the IE standards violation method, you can put the image anywhere and as a matter of consistency I keep mine in my images directory, go figure. ;)
