Re: functions_messenger.php error appear after update

Post by PrinceWords » Sat Jun 13, 2009 7:06 pm

Well, now things are getting worse! :(
now, I noticed when a new user joined new error appear with (Anonymous) in username field:

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/functions_messenger.php on line 446: mail() [function.mail]: Bad parameters to mail() function, mail not sent.

After reading through the support forum I saw many same problems..and discovered the same as them...the problem occur when sending mail from forum...although this NEVER happened any time before updating to 3.0.5 its even the first error appear in the log! :|

I have a question...is there any information should change in the functions_messanger.php ? or normally I can re-put old file of 3.0.4 to solve the problem of this file...can I do this or will this erase edits happened in this file while using the forum?

here the functions_messenger.php file in case any one want to check for problem on:

Re: functions_messenger.php error appear after update

Post by the1_thedave » Sat Jun 13, 2009 7:41 pm

Does this error occur for ALL email function or for certain kinds of email functions.

I currently have support thread open concerning only New Post notification. All other emails seems to be working fine at this point.

Yea I saw your topic after I posted mine, and that what made me check the problem of E-mails...it seems now that all e-mails have problem...
by the way...I wanted to ask a question about your problem...you said you have Spanish language files..right? did you updated them manually or replaced a new Spanish language pack? and have you did any editing in (email) folder in language files? you answer may help me figure what's going on, until the PHPBB team solve the problem.

well my friend, I solved it ( the only bad solution I can think of for now ) :D
I downloaded 3.0.4 package and replaced the current 3.0.5 functions_messenger.php file with the old file from 3.0.4 package...

and then No more errors! :) messages being sent so well as usual now... I think its the only good temporarily fix until the problem being solved... just wish it doesn't affect other stuff on the board  cheers

Can one of you try this version: http://code.phpbb.com/repositories/entr ... format=raw ?
That version will be included in the next release, that solves another problem.

hmm, can you provide a FTP account so I can debug a bit? Please send it by PM (and include a board url).
Thanks.

the problem was solved by downgrading the file version as I said above..But anyway I uploaded your given file now, just need sometime testing if it will make errors :) I will back with the test results.
