"Search" Issues

Post by JeRicHoOL »

Version: phpBB. 3.04 + 3.0.5 (2 forums, 2 versions, same error)

Whatever I search for on my forum it always gives me the following message.
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: kevin randleman.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.

Does this apply? From the ACP, Search settings:

Common word threshold:
Words which are contained in a greater percentage of all posts will be regarded as common. Common words are ignored in search queries. Set to zero to disable. Only takes effect if there are more than 100 posts. If you want words that are currently regarded as common to be reconsidered you have to recreate the index.

This may take some time, and I'm not guaranteeing that it'll fix your problem.

Go to the Administration Control Panel, click on the Maintenance tab. On the left hand side, choose Search index. Delete your existing index and then re-create the same index as before. It may take some time (like, a few hours) to finish, if you have in the excess of tens of thousands of posts.

Isn't there an easier way or a mod to fix this? I mean why does this even happen?

EDIT: So I have to delete the Fulltext native (active) and re-create Fulltext mysql

That's how it is now:

Fulltext mysql
Total number of indexed posts: 0

Fulltext native (active)
Total number of indexed words: 27453 Total number of word to post relations indexed: 375300
