StreetFire Embed BBCode Problem

Post by War Horse »

Support Request Template
What version of phpBB are you using? 3.0.2
What is your board's URL?
Who do you host your board with? Hostgator.com
How did you install your board? manually
Is your board a fresh install or a conversion? fresh
Do you have any MODs installed? Don't think so.
What MODs do you have installed? Not applicable.
When did your problem begin? Today
Please describe your problem: I am trying to allow users to embed videos from Streetfire.net.

Here is my BBCode Usage:

[StreetFire]<embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf" FlashVars="video={TEXT1}" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="428" height="352" name="ePlayer" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... /embed><br /><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/{TEXT2}</a>[/StreetFire]

Here is my HTML replacement:

<embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf" FlashVars="video={TEXT1}" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="428" height="352" name="ePlayer" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... /embed><br /><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/{TEXT2}</a>

I can get the videos to embed. My problems are (1) for some reason, text in signatures below the video are turning into hyperlinks to the StreetFire video and (2) no text can be written below the video. I have tried to delete the "</a>" at the end of the html replacement and that has not helped.

What styles do you currently have installed? Prosilver
What language(s) is your board currently using? English
Which database type/version are you using? Don't know.
What is your level of experience? Pretty basic.

PS: I have tried to search for this and found the following link - but I think it's outdated: http://www.phpbb3bbcodes.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=20

Code: Select all

<a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/{TEXT2}</a>
the </a> code is not the problem. the problem is right before it. you're missing the "> after the text token, to close the <a code. :)
please do not PM me to ask for help. thanks.

some blind fool (yes I feel mean typing that  ) I tried the change you suggested in both the BBCode and HTML replacment by adding the "> as you suggested above. However, nothing appears now :?

I am still tweaking it around. Now I can get the video to embed, I can type text around it, but any text below the video is being turned into a hypertext link. If I add a " after the {TEXT2} in the BBUsage, the embed feature will no longer work. Here are the most recent codes:

[StreetFire]<embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf" FlashVars="video={TEXT1}" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="428" height="352" name="ePlayer" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... /embed><br /><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/{TEXT2}</a>[/StreetFire]

<embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf" FlashVars="video={TEXT1}" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="428" height="352" name="ePlayer" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... /embed><br /><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/{TEXT2}"</a>

well, hmm.. it's probably not going to work if you don't use the full embed code. here's what i get for embedding a video.

Code: Select all

<object width="368" height="500" classid="[removed]" id="[removed]"><param name="movie" value="http://videos.streetfire.net/flash/SPlayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="FlashVars" value="&video=[removed]&servicecfg=386" /><embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/flash/SPlayer.swf" flashvars="video=[removed]&servicecfg=386" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" width="428" height="352" allowscriptaccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /><br/><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Gumpert-Apollo-Sport-7m_702467.htm">Gumpert Apollo Sport 7m 11.57 Nurburgring Lap</a></object>
you need to make sure that you have all of the code loads the videos, and make sure that anything that changes from one video to the next is covered by {TOKENS}. since i only looked at one video, i don't know if there's anything else in the code that changes.

also, you need at least one more token, which you're missing, otherwise the user input won't match the bbcode, as there's text to go with the link. from your code:

Code: Select all

<br /><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/{TEXT2}">{TEXT3}</a>
please do not PM me to ask for help. thanks.

I started out with Street Fire's basic forum embed tag - here is an unedited one:

<embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf" FlashVars="video=7c4c5a9e-4ea8-462b-a45a-9b920159b202" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="428" height="352" name="ePlayer" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... /embed><br /><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Cama ... m">Ricky's Dyno Vid from The Texas Jam 07'</a>

All of the videos I have seen there have the same tag, which is different from the one you posted up. Right now, every video I have tried will embed and work fine. The only problem is text below turns into a hotlink to the video as well.

Sorry if I sound like a broken record here - I just don't know how else to explain it.

the only two things wrong with it that i saw, i've mentioned. you could try removing the whole snippet of code i posted at the end of my previous post. that's the only hyperlink code i see.

okay, well i'm stumped. the only things i can suggest now are trying the full embedding code, or asking on that site for help embedding the videos.
