open Forum topic links in new window

Post by SilverRook »

ok so i've spent the last 2 hours scouring forums and boards all over the place and i can find how to make external links and POST links open in a new window which i have implemented and work but i would like to know how to......

Make the forum when changed to LINK in forum type in ACP for this link at the bottom of the Forum Settings - General Forum Settings - Forum link:
Full URL (including the protocol, i.e.: http://) to the destination location that clicking this forum will take the user, e.g.: http://www.phpbb.com/.

i want the link in this box to open in a new windowleaving our members/visitors on our main page

www.duckncover.co.uk the link i refer to is at the bottom on ServerStatus

A little patience, please. I have been working on this since your last post. I think I have a solution. Just wait.

Best I can do is to make the Server Status link in the forum description instead of the title.

Make a BBCode like this -

BBCode usage:

Code: Select all

[nwurl]{URL}[/nwurl]
HTML Replacement:

Code: Select all

<a href="{URL}" class="postlink" onclick="window.open(this.href); return false;"><b>Server Status</b></a>
Then make your forum of type forum, make its name a single period and put this in for the Forum Description:

Code: Select all

[nwurl]http://bit.ly/DeVsr[/nwurl]
Now the images will push the description to the right, but you will still have a forum with a link to your server that opens in a new window.

You can play with the HTML replacement if you want to make "Server Status" larger or colored or underlined or wnatever.
