What is the new "Feed settings" feature for?

Post by sopas »

On my recently 3.0.6. updated forum I have the "General Syndication Feeds settings" enabled. Question:

What is this suppose to do? I have not noticed anything different.

It provides a way to syndicate your board content to other sites or feed readers. Have a look at this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atom_%28standard%29

If you are not familiar with feeds you probably did not notice the icon in your web browser address bar, but here on this page while reading this look up at the url. Enabling the feeds does not display an icon anywhere in your board view so it won't look different unless you manually edit your style template to display the feed icon(s).

Thanks,

I just edited my template in overal_header.html so it displays the icon. The URL should be directed to http://www.mywebsite.com/feed.php , is that correct?

If you want to feed the whole board and not just certain forums, sure. :)
