phpBB Search function question

Post by Keno2113 »

We are currently using an installation of phpBB 3.0.5 as a knowledge base. Some of the information we are storing are IP addresses. We need to be able to search for specific IP addresses but, the phpBB search function drops the periods(.) from the searched string and searches for the individual numbers. Enclosing the string in quotation marks or adding a + before each number does not prevent this.

Example: A search for IP address 192.168.0.1 becomes a search for 192 168 0 1.

I am sure the rules for the search function are set to drop periods from search strings. What I would like to know is, how I can change this setting or is there a why to preform the search in the current configuration to search for the entire string including the periods?

Most of this information is being imported from existing documents via copy and paste so changing the periods in the IP addresses to dashes or something else is possible but not desirable.
