Yes.

I therefore merged 2 databases together...

I merged just the posts and topics tables. making sure that nothing overlapped. Which has successfully worked, however, this has also not worked due the recent posts not showing up on the main index page. We are missing about 25 topics, but thats nothing.

there ya go. you can't just merge only those tables.

all of the tables are interconnected.

you have forums, topics, posts, all with IDs etc. etc.

you then have the users that posted the posts and what authorizations they have and what groups they belong to , etc. etc. etc.

I think your attempt at merging has caused all these problems.

we have, same users who post posting, so that dosen't matter.

We have same forums although they are parented, should that matter?

It all matters. Either the poster in your previous topic misunderstood what you were trying to do, or you got bad advice.

IF the forum arrangement was exactly the same in the two databases it may be possible to salvage this. The problem is going to be that you may have users who posted in the past but are no longer users.

Anyway, if you still have both backups, you may be able to salvage this. Tell me EXACTLY what you did in your merge attempt and tell me the size of the 2 .sql files.

Hello

MY sql files are still backed up... Not that stupid...

However....

I know this sounds strange, 1 forum has partents and sub forums. The other dose not.
Our new user count has not increast by much, those who did, did not post, those who did posted 1 or 2 posts.
Our Backup sql had 55,000 posts.
Our pruned sql has 18,000 posts - only 2,000 posts new
Since we upgraded to phpbb3, our users have left. Not sure why...

1 sql has 16.9MB
other sql has 23.2MB.

I moved the newer topics to the older database. Would this matter?
