Active Topics not working? [SOLVED]

Post by Kotsolis » Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:13 am

What's going on? I've recently updated to 3.0.6 but nothing works on Active Topics!

CLICK FOR IMAGE

Instead of Active topics I'm always seeing 3 same topics every time, plus the topics I reply at that point!

There was a bug in the previous versions whereby the option was on regardless of the admin panel option. This has now been fixed and so the default 'no' option is actually working correctly.

Admin panel
General
Manage forums
Click the green cog next to the forum you want to include

Display active topics: yes
Submit

You can turn it on for all forums by using this query on your database. NB you may need to change the table prefix to your own.

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_forums SET forum_flags = forum_flags | 16 WHERE forum_type < 2;

Just updated to 3.0.6 a couple of weeks back and had some complaints from members on this but when I try to change this on my board I get the following message in a big red box at the top of that page.

forum software wrote:Warning

The specified forum image does not exist
Please note that I have two forums that are not visible to all users so I'm more than a little apprehensive about resetting permissions in the database. There is an Admin only forum and also a Moderator only forum so I don't want the "active topics" button to bring up posts from those sections.

Can someone clarify how this will actually work? And BTW, this feature WAS WORKING FINE before the last update!?

Your browser is auto filling your username in to the forum image field so when you try and submit the page the board software is identifying that that is not an image path.

Will this fix still work on 3.0.11? I seem to have the same issue. I've tagged all forums to be viewed in the Active Topic, but I only see Global Announcements.

Is this bug still around?

Depends what the cause of your problem is.

It was resolved in 3.0.6, if you updated from < 3.0.6 then you may experience the effects, if not then no.

I see, I updated from phpBB2 straight to 3.0.11, I wonder if that was it? I know that phpBB2 did not have such feature, perhaps it doesn't set that feature on by default with forums that were already created by the other phpBB version?

Anyways, I ran the above fix, and everything is back to normal. Thanks for the help. :)
