regarding custom profile field

Is there a way I can make custom profile fields visible only to a particular group.
What I want to do is that only the "car buyers group" be able to see the contact details (custom profile field) of the "car sellers group". Other registered users should not be able to see this field.

Not without a MOD. When you create a custom profile field, you didn't see any kind of "group" specification area, right?

I also didn't see any field_id column In the phpbb_groups table nor any group_id field in the phpbb_profile_fields table, and I think you'd have to have one or the other to have a relationship between the two.

Give me a screenshot of what it is you do not want seen by other groups so I know what template you are talking about.

Thanks for the link. I think it will be good for the time being.

Though I would like if we could have an option of choosing the visibility of custom profile field to selected groups while creating it.

Its not about template. Its about functionality. I have a custom profile field named "phone number" that I want to be visible to only a certain group.

But it is about template. The template displays the field. If you show me what display you are talking about, I can show you how to make a switch so it is only visible to a certain group (depending, perhaps, on how many custom fields you have).

But, whatever you wish.

I am sorry I was not able to understand your point.
I am using prosilver and as mentioned I want to display certain custom profile field only to a particular group.
I have various custom profile fields like Name, City, Phone. These profile fields are visible in viewtopic, memberlist and member profile pages. I want that the Phone field should only be visible to group named VIP.

The easiest way to do it would be to give the VIP group a single moderator permission, like, say, Can change post author and then to check all the boxes in the Visibility options in the settings for the phone field.

There is only one place where the template displays all custom fields, by default.

I would like to know if there exists such a switch or not. If not how can I create it. A switch to check if user is a member of particular group or not.
