can't create topic

Post by hapster » Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:11 am

I figured out how to create a new forum but can't figure out how to create a topic in the forum.
When I click on the title of the forum, it says "there are no topic or posts in this forum."
There is no button like "create a new topic."
I'm so frustrated. Please someone help!

Could you guys post a link to your board?

This is generally due to one of two things.
Either the permissions are set incorrectly, or the imageset for the buttons is missing.

and my guess is
hapster has not yet set the permissions on their forum
BlakeX is missing the buttons

You have the US English language pack installed.

Open styles/prosilver/imageset
Duplicate /en and rename the copy to /en_us

If it is permissions related, I have always found it easier when creating new forums to copy the permissions from the default "welcome to phpBB" forum. That way you cannot go wrong ;)

Thanks Kevin. Still not sure what you mean as new to this sorry. I have opened styles tab, listed are installed styles prosilver (default) & subsilver2. That is as much as I understand. On left hand list under Style Components is Templates, Themes, Imagesets. Do I need to open imagesets? Not sure what you mean by duplicate /en and rename the copy to /en_us sorry. A little confused?

Not in the admin panel.
On the server.
Connect by FTP and find your styles folder and all will become clear.
