Register globals

Post by Biggles36 »

Hi Gents,

Just installing the board and everything check out a part from the following:

Server Information
Register globals: ON - FAILED

Is there a simple way of resolving this? I have had a read around before posting.

Many thanks in advance,

Eddie

Thanks very much Pitt$Bull bud

I read the linked topic but the only thing it did not answer is how to disable it

It is interesting it would install OK with it not passing!

Although mine does say ON but then in the next line say's FAILED

As said in the link...
You can proceed with the installation. It is just a bit more secure with the correct setting.
i.e. exactly as the message told you:

(phpBB will still run if this setting is enabled, but if possible, it is recommended that register_globals is disabled on your PHP install for security reasons.)
This setting will have to be changed by your host, but the install should proceed without issues.
